Good introduction to natural golf.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Natural Golf (Paperback)
As a golfer looking for a method to take me from the 90,s to better golf I read this book and A Lifetime of Better Golf. These books introduce you to natural golf which has saved my golf game. The techniques cannot be mastered from these books but give you a brief look and explination of the techniques of the game. Golf is big business. This book primes you to think like a natural golfer. Concentrate on the shot and let the natural technique make it happen. While it is not quite that easy the technique works. This book leads you to seek additional lessons from Natural Golf instructors. Natural golf was my last hope for better golf and I improve each time I play. This book is a first step. It will not take you to lower scores by itself.

Good introduction to Natural Golf,
By wcline@ibm.net (Raleigh, NC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Natural Golf (Paperback)
This book is a good introduction to the concepts of Natural Golf. The how-to sections should be more descriptive with better pictures but all in all it got the message across. I thought the author should devoted less to the problems with the traditional swing and more to Natural Golf. I have also ordered the other book on this subject "A Lifetime of Better Golf". It is suppose to have more intsruction material. I would also recommend the Golf Digest video on the same topic. If you're looking for a dramatically new approach to playing golf this is it.

Interesting Yet not Complete, needs more info,

Interesting Book, but does not provide very many details of the Natural Golf swing. Kind of seems like a sales pitch for the clubs and other books and video they sell. On the plus side, it does provide some interesting arguements for the swing discribed in this book.

not enough detail, too much justification,
By A Customer
This review is from: Natural Golf (Paperback)
this is an interesting book, but maddening in providing too little detail, and too much snide comment about the traditional swing. also, there is far too much blathering about 'supination', 'coronal plane', and other arcane jargon. the author should explain why the address should be 12inches behind the ball, and why the club cannot be properly held in a finger grip

Good Introduction to an alternative golf swing,
By wcline@ibm.net (Raleigh, NC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Natural Golf (Paperback)
This book provides a good introduction to the "Natural Golf" swing. It contained enough pictures (sketches) so that I could grasp the basics of the Natural Golf swing. I would have preferred more instructional material and less discussion of what is wrong with the traditional golf swing.

Disappointed with content,
By Fred "Fred" (Pennsylvania, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Natural Golf (Paperback)
After buying and reading this book I was left with the feeling I purchased an info-mercial. I would have appreciated more instructional material and less sales pitch about why this golf swing techinique, along with the special clubs that should be used, is the only true answer to improving at golf. In my opinion the author went overboard in bashing other approaches to the golf swing when more pages could have been devoted to explaining and demonstrating this system.

Sales pitch in a book,

This book is a disguised sales pitch for a line of clubs and method that are based on the late Moe Norman's swing.
Moe was probably the best ball striker of all time, but this book isn't about swinging like him, rather it's a pitch to get into your wallet again, and again, and again. Don't bite. I should have put the money for this book toward a used hybrid club.

Natural Golf Works,

I liked this style of using the clubs because I thought I hit the ball straighter. But my family really hassled me because you have to thicken up the grips substanially and ultimately the book writer wants you to buy different clubs with the head angles changed.

Good Introduction,
By Aspiring Golfer (Kitchener, ON Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Natural Golf (Paperback)
The book goes into a lot of comparisons between conventional golf and Natural Golf. Which is good for someone contemplating switching to Natural Golf. It does not go into great detail about the Natural Golf method.
Some of the material is now outdated. For example the book mentions that NG clubs have a steeper lie angle than conventional clubs. This was true when the book was written but is no longer the case. NG clubs do have longer shafts than conventional clubs, and their grips are thicker. |
