I Am Kloot - They Are Amazing,
By Anthony Robinson (Manchester, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Natural History (Audio CD)
I Am Kloot have made a simply astonishing record. Opener 'To You' sets the scene - a great pop tune with a dark side and Bramwell's almost unearthly vocal. More of the same follows in 'Morning Rain', 'Storm Warning', and 'Twist', all of which could have been massive hits. The latter contains some of best lyrics I have heard for ages - 'There's blood on your legs / I love you' - it could mean lots of things in the context and really makes you sit up when you hear it for the first time. Totally, totally affecting. 'Dark Star' is the centrepiece for the album and sums up what I Am Kloot are all about - love, loss, and great tunes. This record has been criminally overlooked by both critics and the public alike. You should own it - there is no other band like them at the moment. Not only that, they have a brilliantly original name and are great live. You know what to do....

The Gods and the saints preserve you...,
By "pandoras_box_online" (Waterloo, IA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Natural History (Audio CD)
...cos nobody here deserves you."The first line from the song 'To You' and the opening line of the album 'Natural History.' That flavor and wit flow throughout this clever, melodic album. If U2 or Radiohead made a folk album with a dark sense of humor they would be I Am Kloot. Each song is a melody and story in itself, but also adds beautifully to the album as a whole. I first learned of the band when author Neil Gaiman mentioned them in his online journal, and am so glad as 'Natural History' is one of the best albums of 2001. Take a chance you won't regret it. Preview tracks and video at their website iamkloot.com. A quick listen will leave you hooked. Enjoy!
