5.0 out of 5 stars I Am Kloot - They Are Amazing
I Am Kloot have made a simply astonishing record. Opener 'To You' sets the scene - a great pop tune with a dark side and Bramwell's almost unearthly vocal. More of the same follows in 'Morning Rain', 'Storm Warning', and 'Twist', all of which could have been massive hits. The latter contains some of best lyrics I have heard for ages - 'There's blood on your legs / I love...

1.0 out of 5 stars monotoneous record
I am kloot's CD Natural History kicks off well, but gets dull soon. A minimilastic setting, like starsailor, can get boring proves this new band.
Leadman Charles L. Deck hasn't got the vocal capacities for a full CD. Perhaps some their long awaiting new album 'lamotrigine' will prove otherwise.

The latter contains some of best lyrics I have heard for ages - 'There's blood on your legs / I love you' - it could mean lots of things in the context and really makes you sit up when you hear it for the first time. Totally, totally affecting. 'Dark Star' is the centrepiece for the album and sums up what I Am Kloot are all about - love, loss, and great tunes.
This record has been criminally overlooked by both critics and the public alike. You should own it - there is no other band like them at the moment. Not only that, they have a brilliantly original name and are great live. You know what to do....

5.0 out of 5 stars The Gods and the saints preserve you..., May 17, 2002

...cos nobody here deserves you."
The first line from the song 'To You' and the opening line of the album 'Natural History.' That flavor and wit flow throughout this clever, melodic album. If U2 or Radiohead made a folk album with a dark sense of humor they would be I Am Kloot. Each song is a melody and story in itself, but also adds beautifully to the album as a whole.
I first learned of the band when author Neil Gaiman mentioned them in his online journal, and am so glad as 'Natural History' is one of the best albums of 2001. Take a chance you won't regret it. Preview tracks and video at their website iamkloot.com. A quick listen will leave you hooked. Enjoy!

I got turned on to this band by a friend who sent me a single song, "Twist." It was forever changed the list of my favorite bands. Perhaps that is bound to happen over time, but nothing has hit me so hard as this band. From the opening track "To You," to the amazingly powerful hidden track, this is an album that spans every emotion. For me, "Loch" is the anchor to this album. Sans lyrics, I've just about burned a hole in the CD hitting repeat over and over. Though this band has had its ups and downs in the recording industry, they have such range I imagine it won't be long before they are a household name.

4.0 out of 5 stars I Am Kloot: the evolution of Bob Dylan, April 14, 2004

Well, one of the best albums I have ever listened. Many songs sound me as... as the god of folk, Bob Dylan. I Am Kloot is, in my poor opinion, the evolution of the best Bob Dylan. Enjoy themes as To You, Morning Rain, Bigger Wheels or No Fear of Falling, they're diamonds of folk. Insert them inside the Bob Dylan's discography and they will be in family. The music, the voice of the singer, the lyrics... the sons of the magister Bob Dylan. Thanks Jose Carlos!

5.0 out of 5 stars No Fear Of Falling..., August 15, 2006
This review is from: Natural History (Audio CD)
This IAK CD is one of my favorites of the last 5 years. Except for an instrumental track there is not a single bad song on the entire album.

Besides making beautiful acoustic pop songs, it also has it's funny and sarcastic moments: "there's blood on your legs, I love you".

One of the best 'song' albums of the new century.

Bad review, I know, maybe i can think of something better soon. Just buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars artsy, dreamy and british., October 15, 2004
This review is from: Natural History (Audio CD)
The sound of this group is difficult to pin down by comparing to other groups -- in fact, I think it's pretty impossible. The lyrics are dreamy and poetic, and the melodies are sheer ambiance. While this CD might not be the best to have on repeat for long periods of time (the mellow tone of the songs could get a bit bland), it's great to put on for a rainy afternoon, or pretty much any time you're just hanging out or want to unwind.
