Excellent Primer, June 30, 2002
This review is from: Natural Magick: The Essential Witch's Grimoire (Mass Market Paperback)
Sally Dubats' book from 1999 called Natural Magick - Inside the Well-Stocked Witch's Cupboard is presented in it's newest release as this volume, which is essentially the same book re-released by Kensington /Citadel Press with a new jacket.
But this is an interesting book, and if you did not get the original title, this one is well worth reading.
Ms. Dubats is Wiccan and emphasizes the witch part of the Wiccan path. Her sections on Crystals and Herbs make this book well worth owning for the information in these correspondences alone. She also has information on tools, oils and other such items that we find useful in our every day practices. Along with the tools, she offers common sense approaches to our every day spiritual life.
Her style of writing is straight forward, no nonsense and practical. Reminding me of a discussion on witches and practical shoes, Ms. Dubats approaches the Craft with all the seriousness and respect it deserves, yet she emphasizes the final notion that we should be celebrating our spirituality and dancing in our celebrations.
A book well worth owning and keeping as a handy reference, it is a beginners book for the serious beginner.

A good starting place, November 21, 2011
This review is from: Natural Magick: The Essential Witch's Grimoire (Mass Market Paperback)
A simple book, easy for practicing pagans, maybe not so easy for someone starting fresh. Good information, very nice arrangement; a good starting place.

Um..., December 23, 2011
This review is from: Natural Magick: The Essential Witch's Grimoire (Mass Market Paperback)
To give the book its due, it is a great place to start for beginners; especially if you know absolutely nothing and would like a place to start. The content is excellent as it goes into a variety of areas and explains them relatively well. Quite a bit better than some beginner books that I have read.
I prefer books that tend not to lean toward a particular path and this one seemed to lean heavily toward Wiccanism. I was disappointed to find that there was nothing in there that I did not already know, but again it's great for beginners. Considering that depth and substance are lacking, I would not go so far as to say that it's "The Essential Witch's Grimoire". Books by Raven Grimassi would be a better bet if you're looking for something that has substance you can get into.
