About the Author
Merrily Manthey, M.S., has devoted more than thirty years as an educator and therapist, consultant and activist for the advancement of human potential. She has been honored for her ground breaking leadership in the creation of the landmark King County Natural Medicine Clinic, the first publicly funded natural medicine primary care clinic in the United States. A Seattle native and longtime stress management consultant, she lectures, both nationally and internationally, and produces educational materials such as the Telly Award winning video, "A Message of Hope," documenting the power of natural medicine to assist in achieving optimum mental health. Manthey is presently serving her third term as a member of the Board of Trustees of Harborview Hospital and Medical Center in Seattle, Washington; and served two terms on the Board of Trustees for Bastyr University, the only fully accredited multi-disciplinary academic training institution for natural medical practitioners in the U.S. She has received many honors for her leadership, including winner of the Distinguished Alumnus award from Green River College; nomination for the nationally recognized Jefferson Award; freedom activist award from the national organization, Citizens for Health. Her work has been featured on "Good Morning America," PBS, The New York Times, People Magazine, Good Housekeeping Magazine, The Associated Press, CNN, and over 350 other national and international media.
