Follow the advice in this book and you will get much much sicker. Poor chelation redistributes mercury in the body and makes you ill. Not understanding that chlorella is NOT a chelator and that you HAVE to chelate with ALA on a very precise, rigorously dosed schedule is a recipe for pain, illness, and ultimately, death.

A sincere attempt to gather all the disjointed and incomplete information on a subject that has immense relavance to everyone on earth. Without a doubt there has been wholesale release of various forms of toxic mercury into our environment. The author attemts here to gather some of the research and ideas that have surfaced to help one and all to try to dislodge some of the mercury and other heavy metals that have settled into the human body. The subject is huge and is literally in its infancy. Each chapter here could be expanded into a Phd thesis or book - and that's just for starts. If you read carefully, you will find the ideas to get you started on a detox program. Be aware that there is no single treatment that serves everyone - you will have to make your own decisions. This is just a starting guide, and it takes some study.

5.0 out of 5 stars Latest on Mercury Detox, May 17, 2009
This review is from: Natural Mercury Detoxification (Paperback)
This comprehensive book briefly discusses most of the factors relating to mercury and its detoxification. Its strong point is discussing the basics of detoxification, the many products available to accomplish this, and many of the different approaches to doing mercury detoxification. The sources of this information are clearly footnoted so readers can go to the sources if they want more information on any particular detox approach.
A significant point made in the book is the importance of avoiding too large an intake of mercury mobilizers that cause mercury detox symptoms at the start of a detox program. Since most products promoted to help mercury toxicity contain only mobilizers this book is opposed to the popular but overly simplistic solutions. Symptoms are an indication that mercury levels in the blood are high enough to damage the brain and nervous system. It is inferred that a detox that causes symptoms is dangerous and should not be used. The use of natural mercury chelators like NDF, Metal Free, and others, that chelate the mercury out of the blood is discussed. Unfortunately most of these chelators have small amounts of mobilizers in them that causes detox symptoms in very mercury toxic/sensitive people at the start of a detox. If people take too much to begin with they can get devastating fatigue from the mercury released and incorrectly conclude that the chelator doesn't agree with them. Starting out with chelators that have no mobilizers like Heavy Metal Nano-detox or PectaSol Chelation Complex can prevent these reactions. Or one can dilute chelators like NDF, one drop to a pint of water and take a teaspoon per dose, building up to several doses throughout the day. This diluted mixture should not be shaken because that could create a homeopathic effect that would more powerfully stimulate the release of toxins than the original product. Elimination of toxins like mercury can be stimulated energeticly or by large quanities of nutritional/herbal products. It is undesirable to do so at the beginning of a detox program. Being too aggressive at the start of a detox will make most people feel worse and cause them to give up, which is as big mistake. Many people can tolerate Ramping up the dose of a diluted chelator to a tablespoon dose the 2nd week then 2tbs the 3rd week and eventually take an undiluted drop at a dose.
What is not clearly discussed in this book is the importance of matching fast mercury mobilizers with fast chelators and slow mobilizers with slow chelators. This is discussed in the Appendix of Lead Detoxification Naturally, the author's second book. Since one should ideally take no mobilizers at the beginning of a detox this issue only becomes important 3-6 months into the detox.
Natural Mercury Detoxification's greatest deficiency is the lack of discussion of the issue of chemical chelators. Many mercury-toxic people have chemical sensitivities and environmental illness caused by chemicals. It is obvious to the author that these people need to avoid chemicals and use natural chelators. An important way that mercury damages the body is through dramatically reducing the detoxification ability of the liver and kidneys. This reduces the bodies ability to detoxify chemicals. When chemical chelators are used, any responsible doctor will do periodic liver and kidney function tests to make sure the body is holding up under the stress of the chelator. There are various protocols for the use of chemical chelators, such as 3 days on and 3 days off. This gives the body time to recuperate and prevents a breakdown of the body and additional health problems. Although many skilled practitioners use chemical chelators they usually closely monitor the patient, do muscle testing and have the patient on a significant daily supplement intake that can cost $200+ a month. However these skilled practitioners are few and far between and even under their care there can be negative reactions to chemical chelators. Although chemical chelators work more quickly I do not consider the saved time to be worth the extra wear and tear on the body or the extra financial cost of a heavy supplementation program. Natural chelators can get the job done at less cost and wear and tear on the body. And the extra time is not significant given that most people need to be on a maintenance detox program to keep their health improvements for many years.
In contrast to chemical chelators, many of the natural chelators like NDF can be used on a daily basis and actually strengthen kidney function and liver function as they detoxify the body of mercury. NDF is available from AMAZON at $75 for 1 oz.NDF 1 OZ liquid chelating formula
Some practitioners of muscle testing find that if the body is muscle tested for natural chelators first, the body will never test positive for chemical chelators. A great deal of time and money has gone into creating natural chelators for a good reason, which is the problems many people have with the chemical ones. OSR, a new chelator created by Boyd Haley, has been found to reverse autism in children who had not been helped by any of the chemical chelators. An extensive article on OSR and protocols for its use will be in the May 2009 issue of the DAMS Newsletter (dental amalgam mercury syndrome). Some sensetive patients react to OSR because it is not 100% natural, so ways of minimizing reactions are being researched. The Oct 2009 Townsend Letter contains "A Sensible Approach To Eliminating Neurotoxins" by Dr Klinghardt which discusses his latest thinking on advanced mercury detox. The issue is $7.50+ $3 shipping. I consider him to be the an important source of information on Mercury detox despite his approach not working for me. Neuraltherapy website is[...]. BioPure healing products sells his formulas like Matrix Metals sublingual spray 1 oz($115)which seems to be a natural chelator similar to NDF.
The other major deficiency of this book was not discussing Amalgam Illness by Andrew Cutler. Cutler wrote his book before natural chelators had been researched and made widely available, and as a result his book depends on chemical chelators in combination with ALA (alpha lipoic acid) for removing mercury from the brain and nervous system. ALA is a great product but the same cannot be said for the chelator Cutler recommends. Many people have had adverse effects from this chemical chelator and some experts in the detox field consider it obsolete. The shape of the chelator determines how strongly it bonds with mercury and the size of a chelator/mercury molecule has an influence on how quickly it is eliminated by the body. Newer chelators hold mercury tighter and have a larger combined size so they leave the body more quickly resulting in better results. If the size of the chelator/mercury bond is not big enough it can circulate in the bloodstream for a long time before it is eliminated by the kidneys or liver. This results in toxic effects and free radical generation. This was a problem with some of the old chemical chelators. In contrast the NDF molecule is so big and sticks to such a wide variety of toxins that over 85% of it is out of the blood in 2 hrs provided 16 oz of water is consumed.
The strong point of Cutler's approach is that ALA is taken in very small doses every 3 hours so as to reduce or prevent large amounts of mercury being mobilized and released into the blood stream and causing detoxification symptoms. As previously mentioned detox symptoms indicate that mercury levels in the blood are high enough to cause damage. However, I do not agree with Cutler about ALA being primarily a chelator. In my body it mobilizes twice as much mercury as it chelates, and therefore I think it should be used with chelators, preferably natural chelators. Some people would not be sensitive enough to notice the mobilization effect and might have some of the mercury relocate to the brain and not realize it. The number of mercury-toxic patients who actually have good enough kidney, liver function and rapid bowel transit time to not need to use a chelator with low dose ALA (25+mg)is in my opinion probably less than 20%. Dr Klinghardt is opposed to the use of ALA at the start of a detox, probably for this reason. Using ALA with NDF as the chelator is not a good match because the NDF does not stay in the body long enough; taking NDF every 2 hours would work but would be inconvenient. PectaSol Chelation Complex is a new long-acting natural chelator that would work well in combination with low dosage ALA. As discussed in Lead Detoxification Naturally, the author has found PectaSol Chelation Complex to prevent mercury toxicity symptoms for about 4-5 hours. OSR, although much more expensive than PectaSol Chelation Complex, has been also found to stay in the body and chelate mercury over an even longer period of time.
However some patients are very reactive to cilantro that is in most natural chelators and cannot use these products at the start of a detox. If they are also allergic to citrus pectin they have a problem. If I had this problem I would do a homeopathic organ detox protocol for several months to improve my ability to detoxify before starting on a mercury detox program. Being too aggressive or in a hurry to detoxify mercury is a big mistake and one can easily do more harm than good. Trying highly diluted NDF as previously discussed works for most highly reactive people and children.
Cutler's book also discusses many subjects in depth, such as hair analysis, which was not possible in a book as short as Natural Mercury Detoxification. Cutler's book is recommended for people who want a heavy dose of mercury detox science and want an in depth discussion of the subject.
I have found that NDF is well absorbed and effective at anytime, even after a meal if it is held sub-lingualy in the mouth for 3 minutes without swallowing. This sub-lingual dosing enables me to use it throughout the day as needed. Initially I skipped breakfast so as to not interfere with the absorption of NDF in my stomach. Now I take my Cilantro mobilizer with 10oz of water, wait 5-10 minutes take 1 drop of NDF sub-lingualy and have breakfast. Every 45-60 minutes thereafter I take another drop of NDF sub-sublingualy as needed, usually taking 3 drops in 3 hours. If taken all at one time, 6 drops of NDF is necessary to prevent my detox symptoms. The quantity and type of mobilizer taken determines how much NDF I need and the timing.
I have also found that NDF can neutralize the toxins from cinguatera and red tide shellfish poisoning thereby reducing the duration and severity of the reaction. It seems to neutralize the neurotoxins causing the symptoms.
My homeopath recommended I take the homeopathic remedies at bedtime. I now strongly prefer taking them first thing in the morning or to set the alarm for 5 am. That way I am awake as the detox symptoms gradually begin around 7 am and one can take NDF or other chelators to control symptoms as needed.
The author knows of an Autistic 2 yr old that had been Autistic for only 6 months following the new low mercury MMR vaccination. The parents experimented with a hundred to one dilution of NDF that was shaken to make it homeopathic. One drop a day of the diluted mixture caused a dramatic increase in the smell of #1 and #2 and fatigue from walking. The child had a heavy set constitution so the NDF probably triggered a resumption of normal detoxification that may have been suppressed by the chemical preservatives in the vaccine. In addition to detox symptoms there was a dramatic response of a reduction in autistic symptoms. Dosage was gradually increased to 3 diluted drops a day. In 12 weeks there was so much improvement that the diagnosis was changed to speech delayed. It is possible that the Homeopathic NDF stimulated detoxification. Continued daily intake is required to prevent the return of Autistic symptoms in this child. The parents will not ramp up the intake one drop per week so as to eventually start taking undiluted NDF several times a day. The NDF website has testimonials of many children who have been helped by regular NDF.
I have recently discovered that one hour of authentic Chinese Chi Gong can cause the release of mercury from my nervous system. Symptoms included inability to get enough air, Hyperventilation, dizziness, faintness and sudden intense fatigue. Taking NDF before doing Chi Gong and every 30 minutes prevents symptoms and after 6 months my mind, memory and mental fogginess is lessening. Something that a year on ALA and a natural chelator 4 times a day did not achieve.
Recently it has been discovered that high fructose corn syrup can contain mercury. It pays to read labels.
In the 6 years since I wrote Natural Mercury Detoxification, the amount of mercury in our air from coal-fired power plants in China and India has increased tremendously. I have had to double my daily maintenance dose of mercury mobilizers and natural chelators. I no longer believe that just taking chlorella with every meal is sufficient maintenance for most people. I believe that the vast majority of people are gradually accumulating mercury in their body, even if they don't eat fish or have amalgam fillings in their teeth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Overview on How to Deal with Toxic Mercury Ever Read, May 31, 2007
This review is from: Natural Mercury Detoxification (Paperback)
Natural Mercury Detoxification by William Rasmussen, M.A. is the best empowering book for individuals damaged by mercury poisoning. Friends from a cult group had excessive dental procedures particularly many root canals to them before release. At least one was rendered in an almost vegetative state. For years, he stumbled around not sure why he could only cope and not live.

I like a lot that Rasmussen even mentions the effective holostic RIFE machine's usage in combination of tests, procedures, types of information, nutruition aids, etc. etc. This book isn't telling you what to do, but gives a clear overview of the available techniques and views by professionals on their application.

This booklet is a short but very well considered overview of Mercury toxification and the approaches of how to fix it. Of importance for those suffering from serious toxicity, experts in this field are recommended over a normal dentist who may still use allergic materials or metals. In fact, many of the mercury detox experts disagree about how and if the silver fillings and especially root canals should be removed since it can be a dangerous procedure releasing the mercury vapors to brain and nervous system.

Those who have had the mercury in their mouth a long time also have electrical conductivity as these things are leaching into the system day after day.

Here is a quote that speaks well to the situation overall that some cult victims and probably many people experience: "mercury toxicity dissipates the life force, drains the body's electrical energy, and paralyzes the immune system. this leaves the body so weakened that it does not have the strength for unessential problems."

The book also recommends supplements, but recommends against them until certain works are done. The risk in the brain is the highest followed by nervous system. In the mouth, the mercury is also triggered by electrical currents which increase 4x over originally when put in several years earlier. Over time, these things don't get better and the electrical aspect increases.

Of course, this book comes with all the disclaimers required to survive in this current society. But if you want to think for yourself and take your health back, read it. Also consider a RIFE machine. Every family should have one and use it often.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best, August 12, 2007
This review is from: Natural Mercury Detoxification (Paperback)
This book (and the books of Hal A. Huggins) is/are the best in case of dental amalgams and disease.
Just read it and you"ll be convinced. It is very usefull because of the detoxification after removal of amalgam. It is very difficult how to do a detoxification. So it is very helpfull. In my opinion the books are very clear.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pretty poor, August 23, 2011
This review is from: Natural Mercury Detoxification (Paperback)
"A sincere attempt to gather all the disjoint and incomplete information" is not enough!

It allures you at first with a clear coherent structure (what you unfortunately will not see in Andrew Cutler's books), but then you come across a number of incorrect or misleading statements. It claims that oral DMSA is toxic by referencing (irrelevant) research from IV DMPS, it advocates a proprietary chelation brand even though it contains cysteine a substance the author advises against everywhere else in the book, it does not distinguish between organic and inorganic Hg pathways - which is a huuuuge and very grave omission, if confuses ppm and ppb when discussing Hg urine concentrations ... The list goes on...

The book is cheap, you can buy it if you are interested, but do not trust much of what it is saying before you read other sources on the subject.

2 out of 5 for several interesting sections on the facts which I did not know before, such as toxicity of various dental procedures. For ideas about clinical management it's pretty worthless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jam packed with useful info and references, June 17, 2011
This review is from: Natural Mercury Detoxification (Paperback)
This is well researched and makes a great starting point for further research.
I already own "Amalgam Illness" and some of Sherry Rogers' other books.
Some techniques and ideas are new to me; and that is always valuable to expand my scope of knowledge.
Sad to see that humans have poisoned the Earth, and that active long-term management of our food intake and supplementation is a given for those taking charge of their health.

The 'book' was more like a pamphlet that could have been sent as a letter. It was sent in a large box with lots of empty space, and the mailing cost me more than the booklet itself. Sending it as a letter would have meant money saved.
