5.0 out of 5 stars What a Relief!
Much better than the Lansinoh/lanolin they give you at the hospital - I was in BAD shape (you newly breastfeeding moms know what I mean - I won't get graphic!) and after I started using the Nipple Butter after the first week of breastfeeding, I was healed within two days - and my baby doesn't seem to be put off by any residual taste -highly recommended!

I bought this and the Motherlove nipple cream to try pre and postnatally. I was hoping this one would work, as it is twice the size of the Motherlove and about the same price. What ended up happening is the nipple I consistently put this one on was tender, even before my daughter was born. Once my daughter started breastfeeding, the nipple that I put this on hurt so...

I cannot say enough about this product. Holy cow, this is so soothing and so easy to put on, isn't greasy, doesn't have to be a certain temperature to smooth on easily, etc etc. This is magical. I am about to buy it in bulk because I never want to be without it again! It instantly heals sore, raw nipples. I will be including this in every single baby shower gift I give from now on - it is that good.

I bought this and the Motherlove nipple cream to try pre and postnatally. I was hoping this one would work, as it is twice the size of the Motherlove and about the same price. What ended up happening is the nipple I consistently put this one on was tender, even before my daughter was born. Once my daughter started breastfeeding, the nipple that I put this on hurt so much I actually cried out in pain when she latched! Within an hour of switching to just Motherlove, my nipple felt much better, and I had no pain.

Every woman is different, so if you want to try this product, go ahead, but I recommend buying a pot of Motherlove also, and comparing the results.

4.0 out of 5 stars Be aware: This has Cocoa Oil in it!, June 1, 2011
This review is from: Natural Nipple Butter - 2 oz (60ml) - Cream (Health and Beauty)
I am a first time mom and absolutely love this product. All new moms know how difficult the first week is, especially when you're trying to breastfeed. My nipples hurt so bad and I couldn't seem to get her latch adjusted differently to relieve the pain. This nipple cream kept my nipples soft and promoted healing between feedings. While I still developed some blister areas on my nipples and a particularly deep crack on one nipple, I never bled and I could tell that healing was being promoted with this product. My baby's suck is incredible and she was a hardy feeder, wanting to suck for an hour and a half at a time the first couple of days home! Obviously, my nipples were going to sustain some injury, regardless of the type of cream I used!

That being said, my baby immediately began suffering from gas, beginning the first night in the hospital and continuing daily after that. My poor daughter screamed for hours and hours at a time. My husband and I were at our wits-end. We didn't know how to help her. We tried everything to help her pass the gas....pedaling her legs, patting her on the back, hanging her over our knees. The only way to get her comfortable was to give her gas drops, but giving my newborn medication was certainly not what we wanted! In an effort to prevent the gas, I completely changed my diet, reading online all the possiblities that could give her gas. As a result, I stopped eating dairy, chocolate, a huge list of fruits and vegetables, wheat, etc. I even stopped taking my prenatal pill, thinking maybe that was causing the gas. It really got ridiculous. My husband had no idea what to make me for dinner, as there are so many things that can cause gas. It was so frustrating, because night after night, our baby continued to suffer. Finally, I realized that I was smelling a chocolate smell every time I used the Angel Baby nipple cream, prompting me to look at the ingredients. I was stunned to discover that there was cocoa oil in the nipple cream, meaning that my baby has been ingesting it continually since the first hour in the hospital. I immediately sent my husband to the store to buy an over-the-counter product for my nipples. Success at last....No more painful gas!

While I really do love the product, it should be advised that it could cause gas in babies sensitive to chocolate! Sadly, it took us a week and a half of sleepless nights and giving our baby medication to realize what the problem was. If she wasn't sensitive to chocolate, I would still be using this product. That being said, our baby loves the Angel Baby Bottom Balm!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for your little monkey, too!, February 16, 2011

This review is from: Natural Nipple Butter - 2 oz (60ml) - Cream (Health and Beauty)
I've been using this nipple butter exclusively since my son was born a week ago, and I can't find the words to describe how pleased I am. A little back story first: my labor and delivery did NOT go anywhere near as planned. I wanted a natural birth and was heartbroken at how much medical intervention I ended up requiring. Stuck in a hospital surrounded by all of the chemicals and drugs I never wanted, I was really looking forward to the EMAB products I had brought with me.

I (unfortunately) had a c-section and didn't need the perineum spray or bottom balm, so I got out the nipple butter and haven't put it down since!! I use it after every feeding. This magical ointment has kept my nipples supple and pain free so far, and we're talking about ravenous feedings every 2 hours. But better yet, I've been using it on my son. He scratches his puffy little cheeks (no matter how much I file his nails, he still finds a way), so while he's feeding I massage a little on his face and onto all of the little areas that get dry and chaffed. I can only guess he LOVES the way it feels, since he gets all dopey eyed and cracks the biggest smiles while I'm treating him =)

I truly love this product. I love that its vegan, I love that its safe for my child, I love that he loves it, and I love that it works as advertised and then some!! I'll be taking EMAB to every shower from now on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Nipple Cream!, March 28, 2009

Used this after my first child was born....especially in those first few weeks when your body is getting used to breastfeeding! It is VEGAN, smells great and the texture is awesome. Easy to apply, and isn't sticky. Also is safe for baby to breastfeed with it on - you don't have to remove it before he/she feeds, or only put it on afterwards. Loved it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heals Well, Delicious Scent - Better than Lansinoh, November 11, 2011

The ingredients include Olive oil, cocoa seed butter, shea butter, candelila wax, calendula extract and mango seed butter. At first I was concerned with cocoa seed butter being the second ingredient - was nervous about the caffeine level but research showed that cocoa seed butter does not contain caffeine.

The texture is somewhat gritty (the shea butter reaction) but soft on the fingers and go on nicely on the nipple - unlike Lansinoh which tends to be sticky and you feel like you can never get it off your fingers. Absorbs well into skin too.

Also note - this is NOT A CREAM. This is a balm.

Smell - I am a big cocoa fan so the smell of cocoa (predominant in the product) is such a plus for me. Once in a while (because I am avoiding chocolate while in post partum recovery mode and also while BF-ing) I will open the jar to smell it like it's a heaven drug! If moms are concerned that the scent will linger, fear not - it doesn't at all and disappears right away. Also I've tasted it and doesnt taste like anything. (Don't squirm, wouldnt you want to know what your little one is tasting?)

Did it relieve sore nipples effectively? Somewhat... but I also haven't been consistent at using it so it's not fair but I know people with good success rate. For me - sore nipples is a rite of passage to establishing the feedings... it certainly took the edge off and kept the nipples well moisturized.

One concern I have is the jar says used within 36 months of opening - that's seems like a VERY long time to last for a jar that is made with organic and natural products. In fact the ingredient list does not even contain any sort of preservatives so what could be keeping its shelf life so extended? I am no scientist but I know enough that none of those ingredients are preservatives. Will post an update when I get around to calling the company.

UPDATE*******So i asked the company and this is the response I got. I've also given it a 5 stars now as the answer is satisfactory!

Products that do not have water do not need a preservative. No water=no bacteria. PS we test each lot for bacteria, mold and yeast, just to be sure. XO RT @roxanneong: @EarthMamaHQ How do you make the Nipple Butter last 36 months? I don't see any known preservatives in the ingredients list.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it, October 28, 2008
I received Earth Mama-Angel Baby Natural Nipple Butter as a gift from a friend and I wanted to share my experience with the product. My nipples were in bad shape from breastfeeding my newborn. I was given lanolin at the hospital, which really didn't help much, ruined my bras and shirts and hurt to apply. When I got home, I remembered my friend had given me Earth Mama-Angel Baby Natural Nipple Butter . It went on so nice, it almost seemed to melt into my skin and I saw results that day. To anyone considering breastfeeding, this product is a must have! Or, it makes a great gift!

I love to give this along with a bottle of the Earth Mama Angel Baby New Mama Bottom Spray as a shower gift. It smells nicer than the lanolin and isn't as sticky either. My only complaint is that it is in a tub and not a squeeze tube.
