5.0 out of 5 stars virtual soundscape
Since long, I've been an avid listener to ambient music and sound recordings (from Brian Eno, over The Monroe Institute, to Jeffrey Thompson). Mainly to meditate by, to listen to while working, or to let the music or sounds take me to that special place,... almost like making a virtual journey.

What I like about this CD, is that the quality of the sound recording is...

3.0 out of 5 stars It's okay
This CD is a great CD if you want seperate pieces of nature. The sounds are not blended together in a composition. There is a track for volcanic mud, a seperate one for something else etc. Nothing is blended together. That is what I didn't like. The sounds themselves are cool though.

Since long, I've been an avid listener to ambient music and sound recordings (from Brian Eno, over The Monroe Institute, to Jeffrey Thompson). Mainly to meditate by, to listen to while working, or to let the music or sounds take me to that special place,... almost like making a virtual journey.

What I like about this CD, is that the quality of the sound recording is so good, it teleports me to the rainforest.

The other thing I enjoyed is that this CD consists of 8 different pieces, and while one could say, well, they're just sound recordings, to me each piece gives me the feeling it has been created, that there's some creative effort by the makers to create a kind of "composition", without this getting in the way of the sounds.

Then some sounds are really out of this world -- yet paradoxically, very much _of_ this earth: i.e. the (active) volcano track, which sounds as if the earth is breathing -- a somewhat scary, awe-inspiring sound that I didn't know existed.

I enjoy these recordings very much, and can recommend it wholeheartedly.

The sound quality and variety on this natural-sounds CD are fabulous. 8 sections, each 6-11 min, cloudforest, howler monkeys & rain, frogs, rainforest, boiling mud pots, Arenal volcano, wetlands, seashore. Bird, frog and monkey calls are identified within each track by second. I took a flier on this one, usually I love international music, not nature sounds, and this is great.
