I also owned the manual Medula breast pump prior to purchasing this pump. It was given to me from the hospital. The medula kind of hurt my hand to use but it worked. I have not been pleased with this pump at all. It is very temperamental. I will say however, that I didn't read the instructions. I just put it together and tried to start pumping. How hard could it be right? Well I guessed wrong. Read the instructions and maybe it may work for you. I lost mine so I can't go back to read them. It is very tempermental though. It seems like you have to line everything up just perfectly for it to have enough suction to do anything. But even when I think I have it, it doesn't do anything, get any milk out. I have to sit and fiddle with it for 20+ minutes before anything happens, even then it may not even work. I've had a successful pumping session maybe 2 out of 8 attempts. I just don't even try anymore. I wish I would have returned it.
This is the kind of product where you say, "you get what you pay for."
