Lite coconut milk is just flavored water.
Lisa R.
It didn't add the creaminess, richness, or taste that I had hoped for.

This stuff tastes to me like Milk of Magnesia.

To call this stuff "milk" is a gross insult to milk everywhere. This stuff looks and tastes like someone dipped a coconut into water for about 30 seconds and then removed it, leaving us with water that is faintly reminiscent of a coconut.

I had a fantastic curry simmering away, waiting for the final, finishing touch to bring from just good to magnificence: the coconut milk. But as soon as I opened the can, I was horrified. Surely this isn't it! Maybe the coconut is all at the bottom? So I stirred away madly, but nothing could change the fact that I was looking at gray colored water. I added it to the curry, and the curry was instantly ruined.

But the BPA free can is nice...

Of course, trying to cut down on fat/calories and still feed my need for asian coconut currty, I thought the light version of this milk would be the way to go. YUCK!!! Had NO coconut flavor, wouldn't thicken, and just looked plain ol' unappetizing. Poured in a substantial amount of powdered coconut milk I had sitting around in the pantry to try to save the dish, no luck. Now I have eleven more cans of milk sitting on my cabinets taking up space. Lesson learned.

I ordered a case of 12. They all arrived on time and perfectly intact, but the taste is rather bland compared to my favorite- Trader Joe's. Then I noticed the ingredients list guar gum as an additive, which I'd rather not have. I prefer just plain coconut milk,

I have tried the original, full fat and the light varieties. The original is very lump with coconut particles not like the 365 from whole foods. The light variety looks like white water with chunks of coconut. Both may be suitable for cooking but I mostly use ir in my coffee and I will go back to 365 from whole foods, hopefully they will have a BPA free can soon

The product is more natural without the guar gum, but I did not care for the clumpy texture and the flavor was bland compared to native farms brand

I bought a can of this (Natural Value organic lite BPA-free coconut milk) at my local Sprouts. Very little cream had risen to the top - what little the can had was mostly stuck to the top of the can, maybe about 3mm worth - and the milk was very watery, even after stirring. It did not have a creamy texture or consistency at all, and the milk wasn't even really white. It had more of a cloudy, watery appearance. I used it for dinner anyway, and it tasted about how it looked. It didn't add the creaminess, richness, or taste that I had hoped for. I've used other brands, so this isn't a matter of unrealistic expectations. I could have gotten a defective product, but if that is the norm for this brand, I'm sorry to say I wouldn't be interested in buying it again.

I got this as a last minute substitute for Thai Kitchen organic coconut milk, which was out of stock. I recently had a need for coconut milk and tried a can.

One sip was all I needed. I threw out the whole can and don't know what to do with the rest of the case (paper weights, maybe?). I consider it a huge waste of money.

The taste was terrible. This stuff tastes to me like Milk of Magnesia. It is really that bad.

Now, I will admit that I have never tried "lite" coconut milk of any kind before, because the whole idea of "low fat" coconut milk is ridiculous - the fat contains most of the nutrition. In fact, the whole "low fat" thing has been shown to be scientifically and nutritionally unsound.

I will certainly never buy "lite" coconut milk again, and I am now definitely wary of this brand's real coconut milk. Next time, I will just go without.

If you like the taste of Milk of Magnesia, then enjoy.
