Editorial Reviews

Unretouched and uninhibited, these photographs exemplify the finest of the inimitable de Dienes style. Gorgeous natural settings are used as integral compositional elements, in conjunction with the central subject -- the nude -- to produce evocative analogies between woman and nature.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful By Lloyd R. Stevenson on October 13, 2007
Format: Hardcover
This is one of my treasured books and is given a place on the bookshelves in the dozen or so books that are just plain masterpieces. Andre De Dienes is one of my very favourite photographers, he takes a woman on a shoot and photographs her Goddess. The energy he captures is a testament to how relaxed his models would have to be, their trust in him, his rapport with them and his eye for their beauty.

I do believe it's a rare woman who cannot be made beautiful with sensitive photography. This book supports this with the text elaborating on technical detail and technique, explaining some of the more difficult models and how he was able to achieve beautiful results despite some challenging physiques, features etc.

I believe Andre De Dienes worshipped the female form, above that of just a sex symbol or object, above that of `just another person' or `a nice shape to incorporate in an image'. His sensitivity to the form and often also the landscape and backdrop to his models really have all the hallmarks of a man who adored womanhood and because of that could capture images that made other people able to appreciate the beauty he could see.
