Review

''KIWI loves Naturally Fun Parties for Kids: What fresh, fun ideas for celebrating. Kids and the planet will be delighted!'' --Sarah Smith, Editor-in-Chief --KIWI Magazine

Naturally Fun Parties for Kids is a refreshing take on celebrations for families. Anni Daulter's approach is simple yet beautiful. I love the way she shows us how to make children's fetes fun and healthy. This book is great to read, gorgeous to look at, and full of easy-to-use ideas for sustainable celebrations that every family can get behind. --Alanna Stang, Editor-in-Chief, Whole Living

In her book, Anni shows us how to create fun, memorable parties for our kids from items in our own homes or from our own backyards. Has your child ever wanted an art party? How 'bout a spa-day for your little girl or a costume party for boys or girls? These are just a few of the fun ideas coming from this book, and Anni helps to create everything you need from the very basics. She shows us how to make sweet handmade invitations and décor and guides us through the activities and recipes. Everything is created from household goods sitting around your home or from thrift stores. --PaulaDeen.com

5.0 out of 5 stars Naturally fun Parties for Kids April 1, 2012
By ruth
Format:Paperback
I was thrilled when this book arrived. We love Anni's recipe books and this one is just as beautifully illustrated. Each party idea is clearly thought through, and not at all big or showy. The ideas are gentle and eco-conscious. My daughter has been looking through it and planning her party.....which is in six months time!
If you are interested in getting your children outside, and encouraging the use of natural and recycled materials, then this book is the one for you!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Go-to Guide for Children's Birthday Parties March 28, 2012
Format:Paperback
I can't say enough good things about this book. Anni Daulter has created a beautiful resource for parents - both ideas and pictures inspire on every page - for children's parties. This book is so thoughtful and lovely because it branches away from the typical expensive and bigger-than-ever mentality and brings us back to nature and thoughtful lovelies. It has an old-fashioned feel, which I love, because she shows us how to repurpose all sorts of goods lying around our homes such as glass bottles and tin cans wrapped in pretty, dainty fabrics. These elements give a vintage feel rather than the popular Wal-Mart-inspired paper plates, cups, and plastic utensils. I truly believe the vintage feel of the homemade goods make the pictures talk. The pictures in this book are truly beautiful and will have you wanting another excuse to create another party for your child.

If you are eco-friendly or inspire to be, pick up this book. Not only do the parties inspire you to create your very own thoughtful lovelies for the kids, but you are saving money and resources at the same time - a win/win. Children will fall in love with these ideas too, and I'm willing to place money on it that these parties will be a lot more memorable for our children than the store-bought kind (not to mention all the beautiful photos that we'll have as keepsakes for years to come).

5.0 out of 5 stars A Refreshing Book March 28, 2012
Format:Paperback
I was not disappointed with this book. The pictures are beautiful and inspiring, the ideas are great, and the recipes sound delicious. If you love to plan kids' parties, if you mark the calendar for mark-down days at the thrift, if you tend to be "eco-minded", I highly recommend getting a copy - even just to inspire your already crafty creative imagination.

The book contains (thorough) ideas for 12 parties, and the parties are arranged seasonally. Each party lists thrifty and handmade ideas for invitations, decorations, games and activities, recipes, and even includes a timeline to help guide you in planning each party. If you are planning your first, or your tenth kid party, I feel like there is something for everyone to glean.

What I like best about the book, besides all of the goodies being made with more eco-friendly materials, is how adaptable I feel it is. For example: we don't have any girls in our house to appreciate a fairy party like in the book, but I see a few ideas pop out that I can use or adapt for my son's Peter Pan/Neverland party that he has requested this year. I also thought the spa party (with recipes for making natural spa products included) could be a big hit for mama's too :D An added little bonus: there is a nice section on natural egg dying for the spring garden party that would work nicely into any Easter traditions you might have. :)

So there you have it - an awesome book on party planning for kids - it's style is unlike any other party planning book I've seen, and I find it so refreshing.
