About a year ago I started having issues with eczema on my neck and around one eye. I tried products to clear it up, and some worked, but it would always come back when I stopped taking the product. Last Easter I was at a buffet where I ate anything I wanted to--smoked salmon, bacon, macaroni and cheese, salad with dressing, wine, etc. About 3 hours later, my heart rhythms went nuts, racing, stopping, pounding. It was scarey! I vowed to go to the doctor the next day, but checked on line for what might have caused this problem. (I had had arrhythmias before but just chalked them up to menopause, and they had never been this bad) Somehow I tripped on an article by the Journal of American Nutrition about histamine intolerance. In that article I found a number of issues I had been struggling with all related to the same thing, histamine intolerance--arrhythmias, eczema, itchy skin, acid reflux, intestinal cramps, diarrhea . . . etc. I was distraught that the solution was to leave out just about all of my favorite healthy foods!! Then I somehow happened upon Histame.

Long and short--my heart no longer does that weird thing (unless I eat more than one capsule can handle), my eczema is gone (unless I get careless and don't take Histame), my tummy/intestinal problems are gone, no more itches. I am so happy!!! Sometimes it bothers me to know I will have to always take this with just about every meal, but then I wonder what life would be like for me if suddenly there was no Histame!

I tried this product recently because I was having a lot of reactions to food including skin itching, itching in my ears, watery eyes, stuffy nose, headaches, racing heart rate after eating and many more. I was amazed at how well this relieved my symptoms and actually helped my asthma too. I have IBS and my GI tract is not working well right now. The enzyme diamine oxidase is produced in the lining of the GI tract. So, if your GI tract has been effected by bacterial imbalance, candida, or any prolonged illness, you may not be producing enough of this enzyme on your own. Green tea also helps keep the histamine levels under control, but by a different mechanism.

I tried the Swanson brand and it didn't work very well. I recommend this brand for now. The only problem for me is that the effect wears off in about 2-3 hours and I have to re-dose myself.

I have a long story to tell but I'll make it short I had hives that I thought were caused by shrimp but now are uncertain. I had hives about 15 years ago and it was from stress from a divorce. I had them for year and a half and the only thing that really made them go away was cardiovascular exercise I started running and within a few weeks they were completely gone. So they reappeared recently probably due to stress not the shrimp. I am a dermatology nurse so I went to my office where they gave me all kinds of antihistamines that make you drowsy and steroid shots. I realize I couldn't keep getting steroid shots as they are not good for you and the antihistamines were just making my life miserable. So I decided to research what is it in your body that keeps you from breaking out with hives. What is your natural histamine. And I came up with DAO which is in this product. My research said that your natural DAO needs magnesium to work. So I purchased this product and I take one at night along with magnesium and vitamin C. I take them at night because my hives start while I'm sleeping around 3 o'clock in the morning. Little by little this product cured my hives. I also started running again. Currently I may have one or two hives in the morning and I am completely off this product. I highly recommend this product. No side effects and capsule is easy to swallow. Sorry this was not short as I said it would be. Hope it is helpful.

I was having horrible food induced itching and rash and this was the only thing that stopped the itching. I do not have to take it after each meal. I am able to go several days without taking it and still eat foods that bothered me.

It allows me to cheat on my low histamine diet. It works great with tomato products and bread made with yeast. It does not seem to work too well with chocolate. I find my self making emergency trips to the bathroom. Also, If I take this three days in a row, I get about an hour's worth of cramping and the bathroom trips as well. Nonetheless, it's worthwhile in that it allows me to cheat 3-4 days a week.

My husband is histamine intolerant. These are a natural histamine "blocker" you take 10 minutes before you have any type of food/beverage with high histamines. I have found this product to work very effectively for him.

It's hard to rate this product because I know it does what it's supposed to and helps a lot of people. Unfortunately I have a reaction to pork and this pill gave me a huge headache. This company might want to look into making a plant-derived supplement. Pea sprouts are packed with DAO.

I got this product on the advice of a nutritionist. I have multiple food allergies and sensitivities and she felt it would bring down my overall reactivity so that I could tolerate more foods. It did not.

She then advised me to increase to two capsules per meal and maybe more. Since consuming this quantity gets expensive, I looked at a competing DAO product and saw that it contained corn. The label of Histame did not say corn but I wanted to make sure because I am allergic to corn. I contacted the manufacturer using their web form but got no response. After a few days passed, I called them. It took a couple of calls to reach someone in customer service but she admitted that the product does contain unlabeled corn. They don't put it on the label because it is a "minute amount."

Okay, it's a small amount in one capsule. But what about in 6 capsules, or 9 a day? Small amounts add up! What if it's in all my supplements and medications and they don't label it? I'm very unhappy about this because the product is designed for food intolerance so everything should be listed on the label! People with intolerances and allergies can react to very small amounts, and can become more sensitive over time. No wonder the product was not helping me!

I'm allowing two stars because many people claim this product is helpful. However, the company is not labeling honestly and did not respond to my initial inquiry. I'm losing faith in the supplement industry.

I have intense histamine reactions to coffee, chocolate, and aged cheeses. This product is the only thing that helps. Nettle and other anti-histamines don't come close to the relief Histame offers.

Just like DAOsin does not do anything for me. Maybe I have a problem that is beyond histamine, but eating histamine laden foods I experience a reaction and Histame doe nothing.
