Editorial Reviews

Enter stories of the most unlikely cross-species relationships imaginable: a chimp bottle-feeding a tiger cub; a giant tortoise snuggling a baby hippo; a black crow parenting a meerkat. This film will look at these remarkable relationships first hand, and through caregivers, biologists and animal behaviorists, explore what they suggest about the nature of animal emotions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartwarming film for everyone December 5, 2012

Loved this show on PBS and had to buy it to show to friends. You don't have to be an animal lover to be be enlightened about this subject. So much about the world we think we know and then see these shows like this, it wakes you up.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Animal Odd Couples January 12, 2013

It was so surprising to see the animals paired off as they were
and actually being friends. The one that got to me the most
was the horse and the goat. All those years together. A very
interesting DVD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great stories February 23, 2013

Great "odd friend" animal stories but the monkey stories interjected in the dvd seem out of place. I do like it but decided against gifting it as intended, I'll just lend it as I don't know if others would consider it a keeper as I did.

If people could be so friendly as these animals are, with all our different religions, beliefs, ways of living and races, we would have no wars. What a great DVD.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Eye-Opener April 21, 2014

There is so much we don't know, but, think we do, about animals. We share this wonderful planet with so many marvelous creatures. We have convinced ourselves that we know all we need to know about the animal kingdom. That may prove to be our undoing. We are over-fishing, over-hunting, and, pigeon-holing many creatures that we are obliterating. I wish everyone on the planet would watch the series of programs about animals, and, watch with an open mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars For Animal Lovers November 15, 2013
This is a wonderful show with good narration from a variety of experts and entertaining and heartwarming video. It's amazing to see animal pairs, not normally seen together, showing genuine caring and affection for one another. Some people still believe that animals aren't emotive, but after watching this video even the most entrenched will have to doubt their opinions.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a joy to watch! June 30, 2013

Ostensibly, I bought this as a present for my wife--the REAL animal lover--but I love it and am inspired by it just as much as she is. We can hardly wait until our granddaughters are a little older so they can appreciate it when we give it to them.
