This review is from: The Nature of Birth and Breastfeeding (Hardcover)
Odent is one of the world's foremost childbirth experts, and he does not fall short of expectations with this classic book. In it, he posits fascinating theories about how modern childbirth practices and rituals came to be and how it was meant to be. I wouldn't recommend this for the casual reader, but if you're dedicated to natural birth and breastfeeding, it will be a very satisfying read.

This review is from: The Nature of Birth and Breastfeeding (Hardcover)
The NATURE OF BIRTH & BREASTFEEDING - Bergin & Garvey, CT, US & London UK: 141 pgs. 1992; indexed & deep biblio/notes, panoramic multi cultureal survey of birth, attachment & bonding. He acknowledges are: Fernand Lamaze, Art Janov, Margaret Mead, Robert Bradley, Grant Dick-Read, Shelia Kitzinger, Ivan Illich, & many others. It sites many published scientific research, & cultural anthropology sources of native birthing & breastfeeding practices compared to his experiences in gentle & waterbirthing in 1980s. That adds to his clear & penetrating observations of modern hi-tech medical birthing & Pithivers hospital `gentle birthing' he directed for a decade or so. Then moved to London heading the PRIMAL HEALTH center, it features valuable information of natural health, birthing & bonding related dimensions, archived at "Womb Ecology "online. |
