Grade 4-6-Williams begins with a note to adults about collecting natural materials with children and sparking creativity. Additional introductory text encourages care in preparation of the work space; has a reminder about safety; and lists possible natural materials as well as glues, papers, clays, and paints. The 16 projects range in difficulty from making bookmarks with pressed leaves and petals to fashioning candleholders, keepsake pillows, and treasure dishes. Each item is carefully presented with color photographs both of the supplies needed and of the steps in the production process. Safety precautions are repeated throughout the text. Most useful with adult assistance, this attractive title is similar in format to Angela Wilkes's My First Nature Book (Knopf, 1990; o.p.), but many of the projects are more difficult.
