Excellent American art history,
This review is from: Nature and Culture: American Landscape and Painting, 1825-1875, With a New Preface (Hardcover)
I read this book in the 80s and had much of it underlined. It's missing from my library; I must have lent it to someone and can't recall who. I miss it. I remember some great chapter headings and much discussion of Manifest Desiny -- America as the new Promised Land. It was full of good observations. Excellent interpretation.
