5.0 out of 5 stars ~*~*~GREAT for DRY EYES, helped me A LOT~*~*~
I am almost 30 years old and have had dry eyes for at least 10 years. About 2 years ago my eyes were severely dry, meaning my own tear film only stayed on my eye 1-2 seconds before dissapearing. My Dr put the kind of silicone tear duct plugs that go inside of your tear duct(the others kept coming out), he told me to use non-preservative eye drops as needed, night time eye...

2.0 out of 5 stars Why not vegan?
I know I shouldn't 'assume' especially about vegan friendly products, but let's face it... wouldn't it make sense that a vegetable alternative to fish oil would come in a vegan friendly capsule. At least they could have made mention one way or the other in the product description!

5.0 out of 5 stars ~*~*~GREAT for DRY EYES, helped me A LOT~*~*~, October 22, 2009
This review is from: Nature Made Organic Flaxseed Oil 1,000 mg - 225 Softgels (Health and Beauty)
I am almost 30 years old and have had dry eyes for at least 10 years. About 2 years ago my eyes were severely dry, meaning my own tear film only stayed on my eye 1-2 seconds before dissapearing. My Dr put the kind of silicone tear duct plugs that go inside of your tear duct(the others kept coming out), he told me to use non-preservative eye drops as needed, night time eye gel & gave me a prescription for Restasis. Within weeks I actually had moist eyes, I had forgotten what that was supposed to feel like, it was great that was until my insurance stopped covering my prescription and I stopped taking it.

I was wanting to get Lasik but feared my eyes were too dry so I started looking up ways to moisten my eyes. Actually on the Dr who I eventually went to see for my Lasik had a place on there for Dry eyes. One of the things is to take Flaxseed Oil 3 times a day. I immediatly started taking 1 pill, 3 times a day. I would say after the 1st week of taking it I started noticing a difference.

Many times when I wake up my eyes are completely dry, once I started the Flaxseed they were not. Once I started taking it, if I squeezed my eye lids together I could actually feel a little moisture, normally I would feel nothing.

Having had dry eyes for at least 10 years and having it severe at one point, I can honestly say taking Flaxseed Oil has made a HUGE difference.

I passed my Lasik stuff, Dr said my eyes were somewhat dry but not too dry for Lasik. Once I had my appt I slacked off and was not taking it on a regular basis and my eyes started to get dry again, it was a noticible difference so I now make sure I take it 3 times a day, everyday.

I buy mine at our local pharmacy, you can normally find them on sale buy 1, get 1 free.

If you have dry eyes, give this a try...your eyes will Thank You for it!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Clean, no side effects, possibly helpful, November 4, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Nature Made Organic Flaxseed Oil 1,000 mg - 225 Softgels (Health and Beauty)
I am not going to testify to the benefits of Flaxseed oil because each individual may interact differently with the product. The maker state that its consumption MAY support cardiovascular health. The main reason I'm taking it is because it MAY also help with overall skin health. After a couple months of use both my heart and skin are doing well but its difficult to say how much credit if any should be given to these gels.

I picked this specific brand because the product appears to be clean - no harmful ingredients - and to be the outcome of a clean manufacturing process. I was happy enough with the contents to reorder another bottle. By the way, the 225-gels quantity is about a 2-month supply if you take 3 gels daily.

These gels seem to comply with the "first do no harm" principle. I haven't noticed any side effects after a couple of months of daily use. I took them as directed - 3 a day, always with a meal - and I haven't experienced any after-taste or digestive issues.

Now, for the contents. The label claims no artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, yeast starch or gluten. They also claim that the product is certified organic by "Organic Certifiers" which is a "USDA, ISO65 (EU Equivalent) and CARTV (Canadian Organic Regimen) Accredited" organization.

The label lists the following facts (per softgel)

- Calories 10 (all from fat)
- Total fat 1g
- Vitamin E 1 I.U.
- Organic Flaxseed oil 1,000 mg
----- Omega-3 500 mg
----- Omega-6 110 mg
----- Omega-9 120 mg
- Also gelatin, glycerin, water, d-Alpha Tocopherol (a form of Vitamin E)

As far as supplements go, this is a good one: clean, not harmful in any way, possibly helpful (at least I believe it is since I keep taking it).

I agree with the reviewer that discussed dry eyes. I have had dry eyes and did have Lasik and started to use Flaxseed and I find moisture in my eyes. It absolutely works. I notice my hair looks better and not so dry. Hope to see other results soon since I have just started using flaxseed. Read many good articles about this product.

I started taking this as an Omega-3 supplement. It seems to helps your hair grow faster and I have less pain in my hands that was caused by keyboard use. I believe it also benefits my eyes that tend to get dry because of sitting in an air conditioned environment.

I bought this to help grow my fingernails, I have always had a problem with them peeling or breaking and a friend of mine said she started using the Omega 3 Flax Seed oil and that it was fantastic. She was right! I have been taking this and a multivitamin and my nails (and skin) have never looked better! It made my Doctor happy too, I would definitely recommend this to anyone!

4.0 out of 5 stars Like them better than fish oil, September 30, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Nature Made Organic Flaxseed Oil 1,000 mg - 225 Softgels (Health and Beauty)
I have high triglycerides and the doctor tells me to take more omega 3 oil. I have been taking fish oil in the evening because I didn't want to be burping that awful taste all day long. I added the flax seed oil in the morning. No off tastes, easier to swallow than the fish oil as it has a different capsule style. I like these.

I was taking fish oil for omega oils. More often than I'd like the fish oil would upset my stomach and result in pain or odoriferous belching. No problems at all taking these.
