5.0 out of 5 stars Good stuff
It's vitamin C, 1000 mg, just as advertised. The pill is a bit large due to the amount contained and may be hard to swallow whole, but you can crush, chew or split it without damaging the vitamin contained.

Now, since vitamin C is an acid, it may cause heartburn when taking this much at one time. That's not particular to this brand.

I also tried...

Now, since vitamin C is an acid, it may cause heartburn when taking this much at one time. That's not particular to this brand.

I also tried the Spring Valley natural C 1000mg, and it's so concentrated that it leaves a burn on your tongue or in your stomach (depending if you chew or swallow it), for hours or even days. Not this one - it does taste sour, but leaves no burns. Yay.

Other than that, the container has an easy-open lid which snaps when closed. Nice touch.

About the country of origin - this is vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid. It's not meat or other perishable and doesn't require a lot of processing. I believe even Chinese farmers would have a pretty good chance of getting this one right...

Since I cannot have citrus now, I needed a source of vitamin c and am quite satisfied with this brand. I have used it for a couple of years and whether or not it can be attributed to this vitamin, I only get one cold each year and even work with the public in retail. I will buy it again and continue to use it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vitamin C is essential for good health, September 13, 2011

Vitamin C is so important for health that the vast majority of animals manufacture it daily in their bodies. This is why animals can live outdoors even in the winter without getting colds or most other infectious illnesses. Being healthy is important to animals because if an animal gets sick it usually becomes eaten by a healthy animal. Only a few animals -- principally humanes, monkeys, and apes -- cannot manufacture vitamin C. The inability to manufacture vitamin C confines monkeys and apes to live in or near the tropics, where the weather is warm and edible fruits and vegetation is very rich in vitamin C and thus can supply their need for this essential nutrient. Outside the tropics they would get sick and die or be killed, so most monkeys and apes live only in or near the tropics unlike most other animal species. When monkeys and apes are removed from the tropics to live in zoos or as pets, they routinely are fed a diet very rich in vitamin C in order to keep them healthy.

Humans also originated in the tropics and cannot manufacture vitamin C but -- unlike monkeys and apes -- most humans eventually migrated away from the vitamin C rich tropics and spread all over the world to places in which the food supply contains much less vitamin C than is needed to maintain our health. Thus, unlike other animals, we humans routinely get sick with colds and other illnesses which adequate vitamin C would protect us against. Only the invention and use of clothing, shelter, and weapons makes it possible for humans to survive the illnesses caused by inadequate vitamin C which we routinely get. Humans are the only animals which routinely get sick and yet generally survive our illnesses. But why should we live with periodic bouts of illness? Why not protect ourselves by taking supplemental vitamin C, such as this product? This is the argument presented by Dr. Linus Pauling in his book Vitamin C, the Common Cold, and the Flu. Linus Pauling was the greatest chemist of the 20th century and is the only person ever to have been awarded two unshared Nobel Prizes. If you follow Pauling's advice and take adequate supplemental vitamin C daily, you probably will become healthier in many ways, and may never have another cold or the flu.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vitamins, February 1, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a product I purchase on doctor's orders for my son and myself. I have compared prices and this is the best price I can find. The package arrived on time, packed well, and as described. I will be ordering more when we get low on this order and I would recommend this product to my family and friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Please..., July 15, 2010
This review is from: Nature Made Vitamin C 1000mg, 300 Tablets (Health and Beauty)
All of the rants about this product getting their C from China... so do 80 to 90% of vitamin companies. The rest are NOT affordable! When the vitamin is proven to be good quality and is affordable while the rest are so incredibly (horrifically) over priced the choice should not be made to neglect your health over location.

And for those who claim stupidly that bad things come from China... so do a LOT of good things millions in the U.S. use every day. Just because something comes from the U.S. does NOT mean it can be trusted. Drug companies from the U.S. get sued as well for making bad things. My grandma died due to a mistake from a U.S. drug company.

My point is if Vitamins Americans take should only come from the U.S. then these supposed "dream" companies should make them more affordable for us. Especially in the terrible economic times we are in.

Good vitamins are about health not jobs. Until the other vitamin companies start making things affordable the people of this country will have to buy our better health from anywhere we can. Please stop trying to scare people into bad health. This is about the quality of a vitamin, not political or job rants.
