Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Nature Made Vitamin D 2000 IU Tablets, 220-count

Maintaining healthy levels of vitamin D in your body has been shown to be an important part of your overall health. Nature Made Vitamin D 2000 IU softgels are made with vitamin D3, the body’s preferred form of vitamin D. Vitamin D supports bone, teeth, muscle and immune health.†

Helps Maintain Healthy Vitamin D Levels

Depending on your status and other related factors, 1000 – 5000 IU per day of vitamin D is a commonly recommended dose range by health care professionals and supported by research. Higher levels may be recommended in a deficiency state.†

Supports Strong Bones and Teeth†

Vitamin D helps build and maintain strong bones and teeth by enhancing calcium absorption, regulating concentrations of calcium and phosphorus in the body, and regulating bone remodeling processes. Adequate calcium and vitamin D throughout life, as part of a well-balanced diet, may reduce the risk of osteoporosis. Nature Made Vitamin D is an easy way to get adequate amounts of this vital nutrient.†

Supports Muscle Health†

Vitamin D is also important for muscle health because it supports muscle function, strength and balance.†

Supports a Healthy Immune System†

Research demonstrates that vitamin D supports immune health, playing a crucial role in both acquired and innate immune responses.†

Get the Body’s Preferred Form of Vitamin D

Vitamin D supplements come in two forms: vitamin D2 and vitamin D3. Nature Made Vitamin D contains D3, which is more effective at raising and maintaining adequate levels of circulating vitamin D in the body.†

There are plenty of vitamin D3 products on the market. I chose Nature Made D3
because this brand meets the USP (United States Pharmacopia) standards of purity
and contains the potency stated on the label. USP also guarantees that mold, bacteria,
heavy metals and other toxins are not present in the formulation. I felt that this vitamin D3
can be taken with assurance of getting a pure product of known potency.

The brand I was using before may have been what the label stated but maybe not and since I am
taking this daily I wanted a product of known purity and potency. Purchased from Amazon because
they had the best price

I have taken vitamin d3 supplements for 4 years. I started with one 500 iu capsule a day and went up from there, trying various brands. The first three years my doctor would tell me my levels were too low. It wasn't until I took this brand (2 tablets each day) for one year that my levels finally reached an acceptable level. I am fair skinned, wear facial sunscreen most days, and protect the rest of my body from the sun except on summer weekends when it's not too hot/humid, and live in a northern state. I had no idea I needed so much. I'm aware this is more expensive than the Kirkland version, but we've had problems with food from Costco (salmonella tainted nuts) and I read somewhere that a few years ago that some Kirkland omega gummies were recalled due to low potency. I don't know. Maybe Nature Made has similar issues, but if it has I haven't found them.

Researching on vitamin D shows majority of people are deficient. I was taking 1000 IUs and doubled recently to 2000. These are small capsules (I specifically was looking for non gelatin based). These are excellent to keep your immune system strong. I urge you to visit steve Gibson's research on Vitamin D. He has compiled a lot of materials. books. videos and explained in a nice podcast.

My doctor recommended taking 2000 IU of D3 per day and Nature Made is generally a good straight-forward product -- nothing crazy. Overall I've been perfectly happy with this supplement and my blood levels have gone up as expected since taking it.

That said, if you're trying to avoid gelatin you should be aware that the product pictured on this Amazon page might not be what you get. The bottle I received when I ordered this was Nature Made 2000 IU tablets, but the label was just a slight bit different in appearance and I noticed that the ingredients were slightly different. The bottle I received had gelatin listed, the Amazon description didn't (and the pictures of the bottle provided do not have gelatin in the ingredients).

I checked a few sites and none of them had gelatin listed/shown for the tablets (only for the capsules). The Nature Made site itself doesn't show gelatin in the product images nor is it listed as a tablet ingredient on their page, but they do state that their ingredients may change and to read the label for your own actual bottle. Fair enough. I ended up going to four different pharmacies in-person and none of the bottles had gelatin listed in the ingredients list. All of the bottles I saw matched what Amazon and Nature Made had as examples. Just to be sure, I checked the product number on my bottle against the product number here/at Nature Made/the bottle I bought to replace the mystery bottle. The product number is identical.

In short: I have no idea what Amazon sent me (at the time I ordered it was in stock with and shipped by Amazon themselves and not another party) but my best guess is that it was an old bottle, judging by the dates on it vs. the bottle I replaced it with. Then I tried to return it and they told me to keep it. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with a mystery bottle that contains gelatin to boot, but thanks...?

Currently taking two per day to prevent chronic cramping. This product appears to have an accurate dose compared to other forms as I would otherwise have painful cramps. The tablet form is difficult to find in stores.

The normal range for Vitamin D is 30.0 to 74.0 nanograms per milliliter (ng/mL) per Medline. My level was 10 so my MD started me on prescription Vitamin D 50, 000 iu one tab per week for 8 weeks then recommended to the lower dose of 2000 iu once daily for 6 weeks then check levels. I just received the results and I am back to normal! It is a low normal of 30.6 but I am very pleased with the results and will probably go up to 3000 iu or 4000 iu daily -ok'd by a doctor! I waited to write this review so I could share the results whether it made a difference or not and it sure did!

The best things about these specific ones by Nature Made:
1. tablets are very small therefore easy to swallow (you can fit four of these tablets on a nickel-to give you an idea how small they are)
2. vegetarian friendly
3. it works!

I'll continue using this brand for maintenance.

This particular type of Vitamin D3 is hard to find in any of our local stores. It does not contain SOY to which many people are allergic to.
