Profound, loving, wonderful. It changed my life.,

This review is from: The Nature of Personal Reality: Specific, Practical Techniques for Solving Everyday Problems and Enriching the Life You Know (Jane Roberts) (Paperback)
This book is, along with "Seth Speaks", and a few of the other "Seth" books, the most important set of books I have ever read. The information comes from a personality known a "Seth", a teacher who was channeled by Jane Roberts. Seth has lived many lives on Earth, and his perspective, as one who once lived here but now "resides" in another dimension, is riveting. I know many people will find it very weird to consider the idea that a "dead" person could channel information, but after reading this book I think you will be convinced. The book is about meta-physics in the truest sense of the world - above physics. Unlike religion, which presents a set a dogmatic beliefs, this book presents non-judgemental information. The approach is "try it; if it makes sense to you, use it." Some of the insights have to do with how we shape our own reality. Seth teaches us that we always have a choice about what is happening in our lives, and provides insights as to why seemlingly bad things may be happening. In all cases, these things have to do with something that we have chosen. Its not about karma, or retribution, or atonement. Its more about creating the kind of life you want to have for yourself. Once you realize the mechanics of things and how the universe works, you can shape your life to better suit you. This is what I mean by meta-physics. This book is almost a "how to guide" of the universe. Once you know what the mechanisms are, you have a much better time understanding how to use them. I don't mean to say that this is simple. The lessons are often complex and difficult to make sense of. Part of that has to with the notion that the way in which our earthly thought process works only captures a very small part of what the universe is all about. Our brains don't always "get it." But the good news is that our "souls" do. I can honestly say my life was dramatically improved by this and the other Jan Roberts books. They take a lot of work - you have to be willing to let go of lots of concepts you've spent your whole life building. But if you do, the world starts making a whole lot more sense. What more can one ask of a book?

Do you know how there are some moments that are so magical in your life, you wish you could go back and live them over? That's how I feel about "The Nature of Personal Reality." Honestly I don't know how many times I have read this book through from cover to cover. Such is the amazing impact it has had on me and my view of the world. It has influenced everything from how I interact with others to why I became an author.People can be funny about the "Seth books." I recommend them all, and "The Nature of Personal Reality" in particular. Yet I also realize that some people aren't quite ready for Seth. That's okay. Many of the concepts will seem so radical, so revolutionary, that they can be a bit much to take at first. The more you read Seth, the more you understand. And the beauty of this book is that it has almost become the "Bible" for the whole New Age movement. In fact, after you read it through once, do what I do. Take the book down from the shelf, open it at random, and start reading. Almost always you will discover that the passage you chance upon has some personal meaning to you. This is the secret to really getting the most out of "The Nature of Personal Reality."

I own 8 copies of this book, 5 of which are hard bound, and probably read it over 30 times straight through as well. Of all the Seth books you can find, this one contains the most information, inspiration and spine-tingling text imaginable. You can literally turn to any random page and learn something amazing within a few minutes of reading. In fact, once you've read it for your first time, you'll almost instantly want to return into the pages for another magical moment, and you'll smile as you spot it occasionally on your bookshelf. I read this book with some serious doubts for the first time when I was 16. At 320 lbs, I was a miserable wreck, looking to food and the lonliness of my room to find meaning in life. I read this book along with some other psychology texts, thinking my understanding of the world would benefit from getting a psych degree in college. But after reading this, and discussing the topics with my mentor at the time, I realized that I was indeed in control of my own destiny. I started on a diet and exercise, determined to lose weight and improve myself. This quest lasted 9 months. I could taste the finish line as I ran five miles every day. Even when it was pouring snow, went back home, put on cleats, then returned to running again. My mother actually made fun of my "wet running suit" I'd wear on days that it rained - yes I was that dedicated. At 170 lbs, I began working out with weights and slowed down the running. Looking much better, feeling so much more confident, I had done the exercises in this book every night and kept a journal. I still have those journals, and occasionally read through them to see just how powerful the inspirational pages are in this awesome book. It totally, completely, and absolutely changed my life in every way possible. The funniest part is, you see the same theme over and over - in Tony Robbins books, in "pickup artist" texts such as David DeAngelo. Everyone has come to the same conclusion that Jane Roberts wrote down years and years and years ago. You do indeed create your own reality.

I find it quite humorous that a customer cautioned the use of the Ouija board, as if "negative" entities existed independently of our own creative powers. It makes me wonder if the book was even partially read to begin with. With honesty, wit and understanding, this book dismantles such ideas (very popular within the metaphysical community) with such clarity and intelligence that it's not surprising that some have a reluctance toward these ideas. The idea that we each create our reality is not a small idea, nor some fancy idea thrown out for the sake of being closer to a greater spirit. It's such a huge chunk of an idea that it will baffle the reader to think that every single event, everything that surrounds his or her life, including the stones, the rocks and the trees all around are being simultaneously created by our consciousness. This does not mean that our surroundings don't in return create their own reality, they do, and they create us in return. 'Nature...' beautifully illustrates how every belief we have creates its own physical counterpart. This means that if we believe in 'negative' entities we get to experience our own creations, whether out of body or in our body. Possessions are a clear example of this. If we believe that men or women are untrustworthy, we are setting ourselves up to create such individuals in our lives. More this book goes into great detail as to how consciousness is always in a state of creativity and how we create other offshoots of our own personality bank that continue on in other systems of reality, how from the present we are simultaneously recreating our pasts, our futures and even our present. This book also explores the importance of our emotions and the value they have in enabling the personality to create physical reality. Basically, 'Nature...' does ultimate justice to the individual in affirming his true power and his heritage and never degrades the individual by insisting that he or she follow any spiritual dogma or highly "evolved" virtues. This book is the wonderful companion for every individual who wishes to know how beautiful, how wonderful, how exquisite they are.

The Original Self-Help Book,
By Authentic Self "Alpha-Female" (Detroit, MI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Nature of Personal Reality: Specific, Practical Techniques for Solving Everyday Problems and Enriching the Life You Know (Jane Roberts) (Paperback)
Forget all the self-help gurus you see on Oprah and on the bookshelves and video stores. THIS IS THE ORIGINAL. Every last one of them has plagiarized this book! They've left out the socially "oddball" paranormal parts and stolen the basic premise:our beliefs create our reality. If you know anything about physics and/or Einstein, you will know that this is a scientific fact. Contrary to what we are taught by church and country (no offense intended),we are NOT meant to suffer. Life is to be lived according to the laws of the universe: cause no harm to the planet or its inhabitants, other than that what you must have for food, clothing and shelter. Life is good and you should be enjoying it. I strongly advise you to buy this book. Take the "seth" speaks, channeling stuff with a grain of salt, but change your thoughts to believe that you are who you want to be. It will happen. It worked for me. Since reading the book, I've been off of welfare and paying taxes, and basically living a happy life for nearly 20 years. Every time something negative happens to me, I know exactly what I did to cause it, and so I re-read this book and get my thoughts together and everything gets right with my world. Hey, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Absolutely the best philospical work on the planet today,

This review is from: The Nature of Personal Reality: Specific, Practical Techniques for Solving Everyday Problems and Enriching the Life You Know (Jane Roberts) (Paperback)
This is the only channeled work that is being archived by the Yale University Library, and it is being saved for a good reason. It is by far and away the most profound, mind-boggling work I have ever encountered. Although I first read the SEth material in 1983, I have not read anything to compare before or since. Over the years I've seen many spiritual and metaphysical leaders borrow from his ideas, and some even give him credit. If you haven't read it, do so. It answers many questions that traditional organized religions cannot begin to answer. You won't find simpleton fairy tales here, but straightforward, direct answers to our purpose here on earth, how to change your life for the better, the role of beliefs in all aspects of our lives. If you haven't read any "Seth" yet, try Seth Speaks as well. You will never view life the same again. One other note: SEth talked about many things that scientists are just recently starting to "prove." I also suspect that many scientists read his material privately and then took it to the lab to prove or disprove his theories. Of course, even when Jane Roberts was alive, scientists did consult with SEth. In short, this is without a doubt the most remarkable series of books of our age, it's influence has been profound (although not widely known--as many people did not want to credit a "channeled work" as their source.) It should replace the Bible, in my opinion, as the spiritual guide we as a race should follow.

It is easy to mistake this book for drivel. Usually it is placed in new age sections, though it is not a new age book. The airy-fairy art on the book cover doesn't help either. Then, upon opening the book, when you discover that the entire book was supposedly dictated in a trance, you will be forgiven for feeling an urge to drop it and run away. And merely skimming through the book for a few minutes will not be enough to overturn any bias you may have against it. It may take an hour of reading before you realize that the book is making complete sense, unfortunately enough, and that it is offering very profound and practical advice about human experience. If Jane Roberts had never claimed to speak for "Seth," she would be regarded as a brilliant philosopher today. The whole point is that, since consciousness forms matter and not the other way around, there are no limits to our own experience other than those we impose with our beliefs. This whole book is an attempt to get the reader to confront his/her limiting beliefs (in a much deeper way than is usually meant) and to give validity to the depth and power of individual conscious experience. That's the basis for all Seth books. No "Truth", no cults, no mythology, no worship. Once you get past the cover and the "trance" (it was never called channelling), the message is harmless at worst and life-changing at best.

Guidebook for Making a Good Life,
By
This review is from: The Nature of Personal Reality: Specific, Practical Techniques for Solving Everyday Problems and Enriching the Life You Know (Jane Roberts) (Paperback)
This powerful and insightful book was the first and best book to fully explain how we each create our own realities. The entire science of Neuro-Linguistic-Programing grew out of these concepts, using the basic premise and many of the same keywords, yet I have never seen the founders of NLP give credit to this work. It was written in 1972 and 73, just as Bandler and Grinder were working out some of their theories. In terms of the source of the material, I believe that it was indeed a book of "inspired" wisdom. The Book of Psalms was highly inspired, also, at least in some of the songs, and I wouldn't let that knowledge prevent me from appreciating the beauty and wisdom. In fact, I am thankful that an individual of "advanced" development gave us a guidebook for making good lives for ourselves. I also deeply appreciate the late Jane Roberts and her husband Robert Butts for being open and doing the work to make this book happen. However, I think the effort was somewhat hampered by Rob's notes throughout. I understand how overwhelming it would be to have an entity of Seth's magnitude visiting weekly to deliver his next piece of the text, but still, how the book was inspired and written is not the point. Overall, I rate The Nature of Personal Reality as the most important book of its genre in the Twentieth Century.

Openmindness about Life and the Afterlife!,
By
This review is from: The Nature of Personal Reality: Specific, Practical Techniques for Solving Everyday Problems and Enriching the Life You Know (Jane Roberts) (Paperback)
I bought all the Seth's books. I took an after life journey six years ago, and what Seth Speaks, and is describing, is the truth of our lives now and also what we are after we pass over to the other side. If you saw the movie Ghost, that is exactly what I was doing on the other side, only all the evil that was in the movie wasn't there. How I traveled and how I was brought back is so truly amazing. There are many, many companions that will be with you. I didn't know that I had died, until I woke up from a coma three days later. My son Bill had told me that I had died. What a shock!!! I was dead for thirty minutes. I've been doing a lot of research and reading, to try and find out what was my purpose for my death. I've read some very interesting books, The DiVinci Code and The Templar Revelation, and then, Seth Speaks. I was so impressed with the book, I bought all the other Seth books. I'm finally finding the purpose of my death. Seth is giving the truth about realities of life and afterlife. Who we are and what we are. How we can live life, and how we can mess up our lives. It's truly beautiful what he is writing through Jane Roberts, and the truth about the beyond. I look at life and the humans that inhabit life and wonder what we are doing to ourselves. I judge no one!!!! What I experienced when I died is so mind boggling, that all I desire is to read Seth books, because I know he is being truthful and honest with his writings and experiences from the afterlife. We don't die, we carry on in spirit form or energy form. We remember everything, past and present. If you really want to know about the truth of life and the truth of the afterlife, read Seth's books. The truth is told by Seth. It's beautiful and full of wisdom and understanding of now and after life. I am writing a short story on my death. It tell about life, creation, God, Jesus and the after life and religion. (...)

THE BEST BOOK ON REALITY I HAVE EVER READ,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Nature of Personal Reality: Specific, Practical Techniques for Solving Everyday Problems and Enriching the Life You Know (Jane Roberts) (Paperback)
I strongly recommend this book. It is an astonishing tour de force asserting that we each and together create our own reality...and an exploration of the implications of that "fact". Whether every assertion in the book is true or not, and I didn't find a single assertion that I found to be patently false, it is an extraordinarily comprehensive world-view that is internally consistent and at times breath-taking in its insight and the concision of dramatic and penetrating understanding. I was continually intrigued by the fact that the books argument was consistent with all that I have learnt about perception, NLP and hypnosis in many years of study.I don't believe that Jane Roberts unaided could have written this book, and I don't believe that any ordinary person could dictate such dense and well-informed text...and yet I accept that the published text was dictated as stated. |
