5.0 out of 5 stars Natural herb kit January 25, 2013

Format:Kindle Edition
Nature to the Rescue! How to Build Your Own Herbal First Aid Kit
I am a big fan of Diane Kidman's. I've said it before. I just finished reading Nature to the Rescue! and I am pumped. I have been growing herbs for medicinal and cooking purposes for years, but Diane has rejuvenated me. I can't wait to spend some time with my graphs and charts and seed catalogs and start planning my spring garden. I will be adding many plants I have let slip by the wayside. Diane's common sense approach to taking care of the family in a natural way is appreciated. Her everpresent sense of humor is as fun as always, but because of the seriousness of the topic, she does not overdue it. I have always used my medicinal herbs when they were fresh or dried, but now I am ready to plunge into the world of creating salves and tinctures so they will be available through the winter months. I can't wait to see what my shelves will look like after this summer season. I only wished I lived closer to Diane Kidman so I could convince her to give me a wildcrafting class. That would be a wonderful day spent with my favorite herbalist/author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Valuable Reference March 16, 2013
By A Toast
Format:Paperback
Nature to the Rescue! adds even more depth to my growing library of resources on integrating herbs into every aspect of my lifestyle! Diane utilizes her knowledge and experience to teach her readers exactly how to complete the process of creating homemade salves and tinctures. I keep all of her books next to my cookbooks, because I reference them just as often. Her sense of humor is uplifting, and I often chuckle as I sift through the pages to find the recipe/remedy I need at the moment. As a mother of 5 children, I can't imagine going back to life without herbs. Nature to the Rescue! is a simple, yet comprehensive communication about using herbs as first aid.

2.0 out of 5 stars not informative August 8, 2013
By J North
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I wasn't sure if I should get this one or not. I decided to when I had seen that it was 114 pages long. Let me tell you this is surely incorrect. The entire thing can be read in under an hour. It has a few simple, yet noticeable typos. However, typos are not the issue. The real problem I have with it is how short an uninformative it is. It is a very, very short book with very little new information. It is simply too brief to be of any real help. Each section contains an introduction about 2 paragraphs long, a "Find it Fast" technique to do something quickly ("Quickly" is a loose term here, for instance, on breathing she suggests to make and brew tea. Something I don't regard as being all that quick.) Followed by a list of conditions that deserve a call to 911. It is cheap, but honestly, is still overpriced. I cannot recommend this. To be completely honest, I've found Herbal Remedies From A-Z by Barbara Griggs, a freebie here on Kindle to be much more useful, informative, and certainly longer. I recommend that one over this.

I think this is one of the best herbal books I have. The remedies are simple so laypeople can use them. The references are great. I appreciate the recipes for tincture, salves and teas. The authors sense of humor added to the book. Being free was an added bonus.
