Outstanding Holistic Look at Alaska's Inside Passage,
By nborson (Gustavus, AK United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nature of Southeast Alaska: A Guide to Plants, Animals, and Habitats (Revised) (Paperback)
In this highly readable book, Rita O'Clair and her co-authors explore the geology, habitats, and animals of Southeast Alaska and how they interact with each other. I haven't found any other source that puts the basic story of the region together in this way. For those getting started learning about the area, this book provides a framework to organize future observations and learning. Those who already know some natural history of the area may be surprised by the connections this book helps make and the gaps it fills in.

You have to go to know,

Nature of Southeast Alaska: A Guide to Plants, Animals, and Habitats (Revised)
This is the one to buy. The book should weigh 100 lbs, it is that packed with great info (yet it easily fits in your back pocket) on the flora and fauna of this amazing part of Alaska. I spent over 20 years living and guiding in this area. As I would tell anyone who would ask me what Southeast was like--you have to go to know---and this is the guide to take with you.

Very helpful book on Alaska and Tracy Arm,
By Johnny Maven "GlacierDude" (Sacramento, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nature of Southeast Alaska: A Guide to Plants, Animals, and Habitats (Revised) (Paperback)
Tracy Arm is by far the most scenic trip there is. On my trip I saw unbelievable calving glaciers, bears, humpback whales, killer whales, beautiful waterfalls and much more. I definitely recommend going to Tracy Arm. In fact, there is a DVD on Tracy Arm called "Alaska, The Tracy Arm Experience". The DVD captures the beauty of this incredible place. The DVD is available on Amazon.
I highly recommend Tracy Arm. If you get a chance, experience it yourself.
