Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bars, Almond, 6-Count Boxes (Pack of 12)

I really enjoy the flavor and texture of these candybars, but don't be fooled by the natural look of the product and packaging. These are all "treat" and no "snack". Nature Valley is blurring the lines between the once distinct categories of granola bars and candy bars. This product certainly falls into the latter category, but appears to be marketing itself into the first.

Ingredients include a host of flavor enhancers and sweeteners that "healthy snack bar" types might be trying to avoid.

We have 22g Carbs, 7g Fat, 3g Protien and 170mg of Sodium
"Glycemic Spike" and "Water Retention" come to mind...

Check out these ingredients:

High Maltose Corn Syrup is the second ingredient, sugar is the 4th, High fructose corn syrup is the 5th. Also in there is wheat flakes, fructose, honey, milk products and soy lecithin. As for the good stuff, we have almonds as the first ingredient, rolled oats as the third, crisp rice as the 6th. There are other ingredients as well, surely listed in the product description here on Amazon.

One peave regarding the product packaging which states that the bar is "dipped in almond butter coating". Well, I eat almond butter (instead of peanut butter). The "coating" they refer to is more of a white "sugary milk product coating" with a little almond mixed in. It is nothing like "almond butter".

Overall, this bar packs the salty sweet flavor punch it boasts and the texture is fun. Just beware (or be aware) of all those "other" ingredients when you buy.

This is a good product, my athlete kids eat them, carry them with them to events. But at 3.25 per box, buying them 12 at a time, you would think you would get a break. At our local grocery store, they are 2.44 per box. I price check most of the things I buy on-line and Amazon has always been competitive - certainly not here though. Amazon, I am disappointed. I bought them for the last time here - unless I can get them no where else.

Love these granola bars. However, amazon's pricing has increased significantly in the past 2 months. I purchased this item through the subscribe and save program in October 2011 for $20.40. As of November 20, 2011, the price is $28.28. That's a 38% increase in 1 month! What happened Amazon?

I hope it were not that sweet..... I have sweet tooth, but it's too sweet for me.

I stay pretty busy and like to have a quick snack around for breakfast or during the afternoon. I typically keep granola bars or Zone bars around for a quick protein pick-me-up, so these looked really tempting and i thought I would give them a try.

Taste: I think these are some of the best tasting bars out there. The bars have a "white chocolate" coating on the bottom (which is the sweet - and I am not sure is actually white chocolate) and a salty taste on the top. The mix of sweet and salty really makes for a great taste and the almonds (if you like them as much as I do) create an almost "buttery" like flavor. These really hit the spot.

Content: If you are somewhat active, I don't think that you have to get too picky about the fat content. Besides, some fats are actually not bad for you and good for the body (and brain), such as those found in nuts. But I don't want to get into too much of a health debate becuase these are a snack, not a meal replacement. They are a great snack that give's you just enough to make it to the next meal. Some folks may get too focused on the nutrition label and nit pick to see the big picture and miss out on these. As long as you aren't eating these by the boxful, they are a great snack that will carry you until the next meal.

Overall: I love them. We've bought a few more boxes since we tried these and I can say they are the best snack we've had in a while. Great for a road trip of to throw in the backpack. We haven't tried the other flavors yet, since we all really like the Almond ones. Don't take my word for it. Give them a try and you won't be disappointed.

My husband and I routinely pack our lunch and granola bars are a staple. The Sweet and Salty Nut bars by Nature Valley are one of our favorites. Although my husband prefers the Peanut, my personal favorite is the Almond!

The almonds are plentiful so that there is almost one in every bite. The salt brings out the sweetness and almond flavor. A white chocolatey, almond flavored coating is on the bottom. This is one thing I could take or leave. I almost wish the bar came without this feature. Although I suspect it is there to solidify the bar so it doesn't fall apart.

Those with sodium issues would hopefully steer clear given the name of the product. But, we do enjoy them, along with other types of bars.

My only complaint would be the downsizing of many of Nature Valley's granola bars, like so many other products have been these days. I do wish this was just a little bigger.

Other than this, I can only say thumbs up for this tasty treat!

This yummy nutty candy bar is disguised as a healthy snack. It is very sweet, compliments of the "almond butter coating" on the bottom side of the bar. The individually-wrapped treats have plenty of crunchy almonds, but the predominate taste is of sugar. If you can afford the calories, this yummy snack tastes fresh and delicious.

I love the Sweet & Salty line -the peanuts being an old favorite. The Almond version is just as good and a nice change of pace. A very tasty and satisfy snack or quick breakfast. Great to take on hiking trips, out boating, camping or whatever.

Good quality, fresh, delicious taste. Wonderful with that first cup of coffee. Yum, yum!

Just the right amount of salty and sweet. The almonds add that little extra delicious nutty taste to make this an awesome snack. Great for kids for snack, desert in lunch box ,after school, for camping, or picnic at beach for quick energy. We all ages, 8, 11, 32,50 & 52 all loved these. I am going to keep a couple in the car for rumbly tummies.

Wow... I was pleasantly surprised by these sweet treats. I am not big on Granola bars nor am I big on candy, but these bars are truly tasty, although they are definitely more candy than health food bar. They are absolutely saturated with Almond flavor, and the sweet/salty combo is truly tops.

What else can I say? If you're an almond or granola fiend, you owe it to yourself to at least try out these treats... pick 'em up ASAP!
