Chances are if you are looking at Natureboy's music at all you are here because somehow you found out about her either through a friend or her myspace (as I did) or maybe you caught a show in Brooklyn. Chances are if you got this far you just have damn plain good taste in music. Natureboy's crafted an album so extremely beautiful, strong and yet delicate you might find yourself listening to it 3 times in a row on your first listen to really let it all sink in. The production of these 9 songs is amazing for such an independent recording. Most of her songs just float in and out of your conscience letting you come in and out of the music to pick up a lyric or two as you choose. Less is always more in my opinion and the sparse production here is perfectly accented by elements of reversed electric guitar chords and beautifully haunting vocals. Her voice is so perfectly imperfect that it cuts through and conveys angst, beauty, despair and a sexiness all at the same time with complete authenticity . Do yourself a favor and plop down the measly $8.91 and download the whole thing. Fans of Hope Sandoval and the Warm Inventions/Mazzy Star will especially fall in love with Natureboy.
