This mattress was worth the money.

I appreciate that it's organic - and that there are no harmful chemicals - and that it is still fire-resistant.

I had this mattress months before my baby arrived... looked great, chemical free, organic... loved it.
Well, after only 3 months of my little guy sleeping on it, the mattress wasn't feeling or looking firm anymore. I even had to position my baby in different spots to try and find him a flat spot to sleep on. Unacceptable safety wise (and $$$ wise).
So, I emailed Naturepedic and described what was occurring, and they set up to ship me a new mattress immediately! The mattress arrived within days, and it was much more firm than my previously purchased one was when it was new! My son is now 16 months and the mattress is holding up great!
Get this mattress for the chemical-free factor, the organic factor, and the customer service!!!

Our toddler's mattress that she has had since she was born in her crib was supposed to just move right into her toddler bed with her (we have a 4-in-1 crib), but the mattress didn't last (it was a Sealy). Springs were popped up to the surface and the mattress sort of cracked in the middle, exposing the stuffing and springs. She's NEVER leaked onto the mattress or used it aggressively, so we were pretty bummed. She's 3.5 years old, and still using her toddler bed, so we had to find another small mattress since she's not ready for a twin. Once I started researching, I was appalled at the level of harmful chemicals in these and all mattresses. I wish I knew then what I know now. We ordered this Naturpedic based on the high reviews it received. Despite it being really expensive for a mattress that she will probably only use another couple of years, I just couldn't justify exposing her to the harmful chemicals they use to make standard mattresses, especially given the amount of time she spends on and the close proxemity she has with her mattress. If I could offer any advice, it would be to those purchasing this mattress as their newborn's crib mattress and then you can use it to transition to the toddler bed. It fits perfectly into the 4-in-1 crib and toddler beds measure the same as well (except IKEA beds, which are sized specifically for their crummy mattresses). It has NO smell/odor and the center was not higher like others have stated. I've also skipped using a $50 mattress pad and folded an organic blanket under her fitted sheet, and there is no plastic sound. It's rather soft and she noticed right away how comfortable it is. I definitely recommend it.

My daughter slept better on this mattress the very first time that we put her down on it (and that's saying something, since she didn't want to sleep anywhere else but between us on our king size bed). It's been about 11 months since then, and she sleeps fabulously on this mattress. I can't recommend it highly enough.

I appreciate that it's organic - and that there are no harmful chemicals - and that it is still fire-resistant.

I think the coil system is far more comfortable than the foam (which she had before) - and it still provides extremely firm support.

It's pricey, yes, but the return to civilized life (a.k.a. when she started sleeping through the night) was worth just about any price.

I'm now about to buy a second one for my next baby!

It was important to me to get an organic mattress for my baby as I didn't want him inhaling fire retardants and other chemicals. Naturepedic seemed to be the perfect option for us. It had everything we wanted at a price that was close to half that of other organic mattresses. Unfortunately, in terms of practical use, it's really not that great. Here are my 3 main problems with it:

1) It's not completely flat (its puffier in the middle) so I have to make sure my baby sleeps halfway down the crib or else his head will be slightly lower than the rest of his body... this is easy with a newborn but with an older, active sleeper it's pretty difficult.

2) It's not breathable at all (I guess I should've known this as it has a plastic cover) so my baby often ends up sweating on the side touching the mattress.

3) The plastic cover is loud! When my baby moves around, the cover actually makes a crinkling type of noise... often disturbing his sleep.. ugh!!

I haven't tried other mattresses so I don't know if these are common problems but I have to say I'm really disappointed with this product and am looking to change it out.

This mattress was worth the money. It fits beautifully in our IKEA Gulliver crib. There was no weird or toxic odor upon first opening the mattress. It's firm, but comfy at the same time. It's a great buy. My favorite aspect is the non-toxic fire retardent used by this company. Plus, it's made in the USA!

I have had such a hard time figuring out the differences between all the new baby mattresses available on the market. I found Naturepedic's website to have some really helpful information and their customer support person really took the time to answer my questions and concerns. We have been very pleased with this purchase!

After visiting Naturepedic's factory in Chagrin Falls, OH and researching organic mattresses on the market, Naturepedic Organic mattress was the finest in its class. We originally bought a crib mattress for our son, upgraded to twin, and eventually bought a king for ourselves. My king organic naturepedic mattress is far more superior than my previous Stearns and Foster, in fact, it's the dreamiest mattress I've ever owned. Of course the crib and children's twin mattresses do run firm vs a plush pillow top, but children should sleep on a firmer mattress than adults, especially infants of course. My son has loved his mattress for fours years and has never once complained and I've had no trouble falling asleep comfortably in it when we read books at bedtime.

As for the staff at Naturepedic, they are the real deal---they truly care about the quality of their product and family owned/operated company. Their factory is clean and the mattress are assembled by by hand with highest quality materials. This is as good as it gets in the organic mattress market. We know, we've toured the factory, met the staff, and studied the composition of the mattresses inside n' out.
