Worsened facial nonspecific dermatitis.
on September 23, 2013
I'm a physician. I've put together an emollient (home remedy) that we personally use in our home for almost all skin ailments and as a lubricant. It works extremely well overall (includes emu, coconut, evening primrose, and a variety of other high grades oils some of which were purchased through AMZN). Although my concoction has worked great for eczema, actinic keratoses, wounds, burns, etc., it has not cleared up two small nonspecific patches of forehead dermatitis (they are not AKs or cancer). Likewise, it's not really helped my wife's intermittent bouts with dermatologist diagnosed 'periorbital dermatitis'. Therefore, I purchased this calendula product based upon theoretical benefits and product reviews from various sites. In both of our cases, our skin ailments have worsened (albeit midly) despite consistently using this product for several weeks and without concomitant use of other products. Am a bit suspicious that the solvent/base may be the problem as I think it's alcohol based. We've also tried a popular calendula cream (non-ETOH based) that's not seemed to help or hurt. We love Amazon's A-Z guarantee so one may choose to give this product a try. It would appear that my review is the only less than optimal thought regarding the effectiveness of this product thus far. On the positive side, it actually has a nice smell all considered. I have no opinion regarding this product for potential uses beyond our somewhat minor skin ailments.
