Excellent for bodybuilders,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
As a bodybuilder, I consume 50-100g of protein powder per day. I am lactose intolerant.
Having experimented with numerous brands and types of protein powders, I have found this product to be the best for me. I wish it were a bit cheaper to be honest...but it is an isolate protein which is due to the extra refining it undergoes. From a taste perspective, it's okay. Palatable and you get used to it. It's not chalky but don't expect vanilla pudding taste here either. As the granules are very tiny (microlyzed) which is par for isolates...this stuff dissolves well even in water (which is what I consume it with). It does not give me gas and doesn't appear to have any effect on my bowel movements which whey protein, unfortunately, does. This product is fortified with essential micronutrients (except iron which is good!) including healthy amounts of potassium...essential electrolyte for post workout. Note: Most weightlifters get adequate iron from their diet or other supplements and seek to control it. This powder also has BCAAs in it... 3465mg of isoleucine 7865mg of leucine 3080mg of valine 4.6g of L-Glutamine These are very nice for post-workout recovery...and saves having to add BCAAs seperately (which can get very expensive). Note that the ratios of the BCAAs are proper as well. Lastly, and most importantly, I have definitely been adding muscle since I've started using this over the last 3-4 months. So, ultimately, if you need a protein powder to augment your weightlifting routine...this is a good choice providing you need a lactose free product. Otherwise, if you can tolerate lactose, you might want to consider a whey protein as it is about half the price.

Pretty good taste, and mixes easily with a spoon,
I am currently on a special diet that requires me to get most of my nutrition from protein shakes. It also requires that the shakes be high protein, but low in carbs and fat. Isopure is a great product to meet those requirements.
The two scoop serving size is huge, and really, the protein amount per scoop is comparable to other brands. The way they claim to have 50 grams of protein per serving is to double the serving size. Read the labels and make sure you're comparing the right amounts! I do like that the shakes contain a lot of vitamins and minerals, providing 25% daily value per scoop of most of the major ones. Mixing up the shake is no problem. I use one scoop in 6-8 ounces of very cold water. I give it a good stir, let it settle and absorb some water, then finish stirring. There are no clumps, goop, or anything gross; just a smooth shake. My only complaint is that there are sometimes a few little chalky-textured granules (which are really no bigger than a grain of sand) that settle to the bottom. The flavor is ok, once you know what to expect. I think I psyched myself out over it a little too much the first time, especially based on the smell I experienced when first opening the can. It smells rather strongly of powdered milk, which has an odd sweet smell. The dutch chocolate flavor tastes very good, and is comparable to sugar free Carnation Instant Breakfast. I am not a big fan of the creamy vanilla flavor, because it still retains the weird powdered milk smell, and the actual vanilla flavor seems to be lacking. I can dress it up with a teaspoon of real cocoa powder and a couple drops of almond extract, and that makes it tolerable. You just have to stir it more to get the cocoa to blend in. I do want to point out something that may be TMI, but useful for people who may be on a bariatric surgery-type diet. Having to drink this stuff for two meals a day has produced some interesting gastrointestinal results for me. Let's just say you won't be needing any Miralax while using this product. We'll just leave it at that. :)

excellent value,
I think many products that use the 50g thing are just marketing gimmicks. Here they just added a scoop...only want 25g? use 1 scoop.
But anyway 0 carb, perfect taste (athough if artificial sweetners scare you, stay away), every imaginable vitamin in the book. can't beat it. These are typically buy 1 get 1 half off or BOGO (buy one get one free) at GNC. 20% off with Gold member discount (both discounts stack). with these discounts, you can often get the price down somewhere to $1 per shake.

As a bariatric patient, I'm looking for good sources of protein. This tastes great and I can get a large dose of protein in one setting. Item was priced right and I appreciate that it came quickly.

Great nutrition, easy blending, awful taste.,
By evilgummibear (Reston, VA USA) - See all my reviews Good product, fruit flavors were not my cup of tea. I would recommend pure protein chocolate shake, but it has a little less protein.

Banana cream flavour review,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
As the title says, this is about tha Banana cream flavour of Isopure zerocarb.
Consistency: The zerocarb line is less vicous than the chocolate low carb (which has the consistency of chocolate malt) Taste: I've tried the cookies and cream and i prefer the Banana Cream better because the former tastes too much of artificial sweetener. So while drinking the banana cream, it really does taste like banana cream until you get to the last gulp, only then can you taste the artificial sweetener. Smell: This flavour doesn't make me want to hold my nose while drinking I won't say anything else about mix-ability or protein content as it's been discussed here before. I just wish they'd sell the bucket size (7.5lb) of this flavour.

This review is from: Nature's Best - Perfect Zero Carb Isopure (Health and Beauty)
This product is awesome. The nutritional info tells you there is almost no fat (1 gram fat, 0.5 gram sat. fat), zero carbs and a whopping 50 grams protein. Having said that, I was certain that this product would provide exactly what I needed to maintain a lean body but I was very skeptical about taste especially after reading other reviews which were quite negative on that particular aspect. I can now confidently tell other buyers that none of that was true for me. The taste is excellent! I don't understand why other people found it so bad...then to I specify that the flavor I bought was the Creamy Vanilla and it does not taste at all like a protein shake!(and I HATE that nasty chalky protein shake taste!) For my shakes I blend 2 scoops of the powder, some chopped fruit like banana, strawberry, pineapple, etc and about 1/3 cup fat free milk and ice. A really great combo is banana and a bit of reduced fat peanut butter (I keep all fat intake to a minimum.) Very yummy. The shake is truly fulling. I take it sometimes as a meal replacement, after my workout or for breakfast. As far as its effects on my body transformation, it's too early to tell, but I will update later on if necessary. This is a highly recommended protein supplement.

Smoothest protein powder ever,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I tried the cookies & cream flavor of this protein powder, and was pleased with the quality. The taste is a little plain, but the powder mixes very easy and smooth. I am not so concerned with the taste of protein powders, I just hate that chunky taste that you get when a powder doesn't mix well. This powder mixes so easily that you can stir it with a spoon and not have to worry about chunks. It also has fewer calories than most protein powders I've tried. Most importantly, I've seen good results with having 1-2 scoops of protein immediately following the gym.
The only downside to this product is that if you mix it too vigorously it has a tendency to foam. If you have a shaker it is best to swirl it around instead of shaking it so that you aren't drinking a bunch of foam. |
