4.0 out of 5 stars I was pleased...
Perhaps my expectations weren't as atmospheric as some, but I really enjoy this DVD and watch it all the time. I put the HD side through my 42 inch plasma and it looks and sounds magnificent. Some of the scenes were so vibrant and colorful it seemed unreal. Of course it wasn't all spectatcular but there was enough to satisfy me. I agree Planet Earth on HD is a better DVD...

2.0 out of 5 stars The Production Quality is Lacking
The content is fine, not overly impressive, but good enough to enjoy. What I found to be the problem was the basic video and audio quality. I watched the HD-DVD version on a good quality home threater system. I'm not sure all the video was filmed in HD and a couple of the songs had quality problems with the audio. No, the DVD disk was not damaged.

I agree Planet Earth on HD is a better DVD (set), but it is also a different one. It is geared toward education and has a lot animals scenes. Nature's colors is for relaxing - lovely music accompaniement. Perfect for puttering around the house or sitting with a drink chatting to friends. I recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Invaluable to me, March 17, 2010

I mistakenly posted this review on another product I had purchased. That was OK but THIS is the DVD I would most highly recommend. Sorry for the confusion.

Mom Needed Less Anti-anxiety med, February 8, 2010

I ordered this last year for my mom who was in end-stage Pulmonary Fibrosis. She was so hyper from this disease which robs you of your ability to breath. Very stressful and upsetting for her. She would be in constant motion and non-stop talking mode and when I put this DVD on, all of a sudden she would stop and be mesmerized watching and listening to it. When she got sleepy, she would close her eyes and continue to be soothed by the beautiful classical music. It comforted her so much I think she needed less anti-anxiety medicine because of it. It worked on me a few times too:)
After she passed away, we had an old fashioned at home wake for her and played this dvd all the while. Everyone there found it very comforting.
I'm back here to get ordering information for a friend who's mom is having some anxiety.
I highly recommend this DVD for anyone who loves classical music and scenes of beautiful nature settings.

By the way it seems there is some confusion about if this will play in a regular DVD player. The disc is dual sided. One side is for HD DVD and the other plays in a regular DVD player just fine. That's what I have and had no problem with it so unless they changed it it should play.

3.0 out of 5 stars What a disappointment!, May 25, 2007

Unfortunately to my dismay this HD DVD fails to live up to its own statement "stunning high definition 1080i". What a big disappointment! It simply falls far below of my expectation.

Although a step up from standard definition DVD, the transfer has added only some detail and depth, hardly any 3-D effect. Certain scenes are too grainy to my eyes. There's a scene (beach, wave heating the rocks) in the last song..geez...it's blur & worse than a DVD.

Some scenes are indeed repetitive. The consolations are: It gives you a kind of relaxation mood or calming effect seeing the nature sceneries & I quite enjoy the classical music pieces.

5.0 out of 5 stars Showcases my HDTV, November 7, 2007
This review is from: Nature's Colors (Combo HD DVD and Standard DVD) (HD DVD)
I love this HD DVD and play it frequently! I just purchased my first plasma, and the picture of Nature's Colors was so clear...beautiful scenery and sharp colors. The best thing about this HD DVD is that I can show off my new HDTV while entertaining with the nature scenes accompanied with serene classical music. I recommend it!!

This HDDVD is stunning. It captures some of the most beautiful scenery paired with recognizable classical music. The picture is extremely clear and the sound is flawless. This is my new default HDDVD...ideal for entertaining.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy on the Eye (and Ear!), March 7, 2009

This excellent production is the definitive "Easy listening" programme,
and choosing the HD-DVD version will ensure that it is also makes for a
delightful "easy watching" dimension as well.
Filming of spectacular beauty spots is generally superb, and despite
the "bleeding chunks" from familiar musical classics aspect, the audio
is relaxing listening, guaranteed to wash away the blues.
An option to choose "natural sound effects" would have been a welcome
addition, though -- as offered by other DVDs in this category.

The orchestra is average with rather ordinary classic music. The picture frames and colors are not that impressive. I was expecting something better with picture quality as a HD DVD title. If you are looking for something visually stunning, consider BBC's Planet Earth HD DVD.
