5.0 out of 5 stars Serenity
I was able to easily identify all of the classical masterpieces highlighted on this disc. The range of captivating nature scenes - from rainforests to mountains kept my attention throughout. The main menu was easy to use - the chapters were listed by song titles, not nature scenes. The picture clarity was stunning - there is nothing like nature in high definition...

this disc is a must have for anyone who just jumped to Bluray. The quality is breathtaking. I really could not believe my eyes. The content was not being played on even an HDMI CONNECTION AND YET IT WAS BRILLIANT. I was playing it on a DELL 24'' panel via component cables. The images and video was simply amazing and sound on 2.1 ch. was just as good. I am still building my HD Universe and this disc takes the cake

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent in all aspects, August 28, 2007
This review is from: Nature's Colors With The World's Greatest Music [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
This type of scenery and music combination can run for many times and every time it is enjoyable either to watch or to have it as back ground music with nice sceneries of Nature. It is worth the money as it is a Disk to play many times especialy enjoyable on blue ray with large screen highest resolution.

What the hell...

Who actually owns the copyright? Why are they published by different companies?

Well anyway, frankly speaking, the background music (noise?) of the Living Landscapes are all too artificial. Nevertheless, the picture quality is much better than Nature's Color when I am just 'giving' the chance to compare both.

I enjoyed most aspects of this Blu-Ray disk. The scenery is indeed natural and colorful, but I felt disappointed in my purchase after the first 10 minutes. The scenery was not varied enough, and there are too many scenes of trees, water and common wildlife that I could video myself by talking a walk in a nearby woods. I was expecting more scenery from unusual places around the world. The quality of the music track is fantastic, especially on my high-end home theater. Once again, too many of the selections are classical music that I've heard countless times on television, movies, radio, etc. Something surprising and new would have gone a long way here.

As the family is waking up and we're having our breakfast and coffee on Saturday or Sunday mornings, we turn this on every now and then just to create a little bit of relaxing background/mood setting. It's also nice to have on when you're having a few guests over as it does not tend to override conversation (if set at the right volume level, of course). Most every recognizable classic tune is included and the pictures are really gorgeous, for the most part. One or two clips, like the ocean waves shown during "Bolero", are clearly (or should I say not clearly?) not shot in high definition. I'm not sure why they would decide to include them when putting the video clips together; they really do tend to break the "stride" of the images. Some of the footage of the same birds they took video of in the first song re-appear in the last one. You would think they would include a bit more variety than that. On the other hand, though, the video is not really something you are going to sit there and watch wide-eyed throughout the DVD; it's more something you will watch in pieces as you're reading the morning paper or as you're using your laptop. Overall, I am glad we have it; we have enjoyed it and will continue to play it from time to time. One star off though for the items I mentioned above. A little more effort on the part of the producers could have made it great instead of merely good.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nature scenes set to classical music, February 12, 2008

This video contains scenes from the folks at HDenvironments.com, makers of the Living Landscapes videos. They add classical music instead of retaining the natural sounds. The calssical selections are popular ones you should recognize, and the movement from scene to scene is faster than the original Living Landscapes videos. If this appeals to you, enjoy. If you want the natural sounds and longer scenes are each site, get the original Living Landscapes videos.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have, December 24, 2009
This review is from: Nature's Colors With The World's Greatest Music [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
This is an amazing collection to own. Breathtaking scenery and wonderful music.

i almost didn't buy this due the negative reviews about not much variety. But i am so glad i went ahead with it. Not sure what DVD they watched, but this one has the most variety i have seen (in this kind of dvd's) in sceneries from different national parks. Butterflies, dragon flies, humming birds, water falls, flowers, fall colors, snow...amazingly stunning visuals and variety...all complimented with soul stirring music.

only gripe is, i paid twice as much a few months ago.

I would rate this three stars but feel compelled to counterbalance some of these five star reviews. I wonder if those who rave about this disc have seen much of the best that blu-ray offers. The HD quality of this disc is spotty at best. Some of the camera work suggests an amateur performing experimental shots with exaggerated color and balance, not to mention not understanding F stops and depth of field. There are way too many scenes with a lot of purple where it does not exist in nature. I guess the Camera person or editor thought the natural grayscales of rock formations isn't colorful enough. There is one sunset image, which obviously has a lot of gradations of orange in nature, that was so overly boosted towards red that it becomes almost painful to look at. And there were a few scenes that were outright blurry, less clarity than my HD set displays with an analog source.

The botched images may have occurred by sloppy editing as there are some scenes in common with Earthscapes, "Fall in New England" which displayed greater sharpness for the same scene on that disc. Dollar for dollar the aforementioned is the best I've seen in nature photography with the right amount of music and nature sound balance. The classical musical sound quality is good on this disc, but it should have provided some nature sounds as well. And let me be clear that there are some very good vistas in this disc, but it is irritating pieced together with too many flawed images.
