Keep Steel Rods Tight
It is characteristic of wood to develop fine cracks or warp when it’s heated. To counteract this, steel tightening rods have been inserted along the ends of the plank. When the plank is new before each use, tighten the rods just until snug with the adjustment tool supplied with the plank, or by using a 7/16-inch socket wrench. After the plank has been used several times the wood will settle and the rods will only need occasional adjustments to keep them snug.

This is for the OVEN not your bbq grill. Its a thick piece of wood and smells great when cooking , your whole house will smell like cedar when using this baby. I cooked salmon and chicken and both came out great.

This ia a great product--until my last order. We love salmon roasted on cedar plank, and I ordered two more NC001 Cedar Planks as gifts. One plank came with the wrench pictured with the product which is identical to our original plank and wrench. The wrench is used to tighten the rods holding the planks together to control cracking.
The other plank contained a substitute for the wrench, a "premium chromed 7/16" socket...all that is required is a ratchet". Unfortunately, a 3/8" ratchet is not a common kitchen tool, so this substitution is not an adequate replacement for the original wrench.
I think Nature's Cuisine shouls send a wrench to any purchaser that received a socket with their cedar plank, or this product will not merit a ***** rating.
