This review is from: Nature's Gate Deodorant, Lavender & Aloe, 1.7-Ounce Bottles (Health and Beauty)
I have used it for well over 2 years now and it works well. It's clear so it doesn't stain clothing and it's not greasy or anything. Just fine. Smells really nice. I recommend this product.

Propylene Glycol?,

This review is from: Nature's Gate Deodorant Stick, Summer Spice Scent - 2.5-Ounce Sticks (Health and Beauty)
Currently, Summer Spice is my product of choice, as it smells herby and soapy and works. If I still like it after a few months, I'll buy the six-pack offered by the same company on Amazon. I like the product, though it loses a star for the first ingredient, and below is why.Ingredients (straight from the Summer-Spice plastic stick): Propylene glycol, Purified Water, Sodium Stearate, Witch Hazel Extract, Cocamide Dea, Oak Gall Extract, Glycine, Arginine, Leucine, Extracts of Eucalyptus, Sage&Myrrh, Fragrance oils. Propylene glycol is the first and most common ingredient in this organic, 'all-natural' deodorant. When I think 'all-natural,' I think about a product without man-made chemicals that come from industry processing. While this deodorant (which comes in a plastic tube, recycle #5) does have good stuff, it has two chemicals too. Propylene glycol, known also by the systematic name propane-1,2-diol, is an organic compound (a diol alcohol), usually a tasteless, odorless, and colorless clear oily liquid that is hygroscopic and miscible with water, acetone, and chloroform. Propylene glycol does not cause sensitization and it shows no evidence of being a carcinogen or of being genotoxic. (Thanks wikipedia.) Ingredient #3 is Sodium Stearate. Sodium stearate is a chemical, made by reacting sodium with stearic acid to create the salt, sodium stearate. It is the major component of soap along with many types of solid deodorants. It has the chemical formula C17H35COONa or CH3(CH2)16COO-+Na. Stearic acid is prepared by treating animal fat with water at a high pressure and temperature, leading to the hydrolysis of triglycerides. Basically, tallow. Stearic acid is less unhealthy than other saturated fatty acids. (Thanks college chemistry notes and wikipedia.) Propylene glycol, water, and sodium stearate are also the first three ingredients in my previous deodorant, Speed Stick. They are commercially common, but 'all natural?' Well, I'm ok with the Stearate; it's basically what candles are made of. The -ine's are amino acids, so I'm ok with those too. Summer Spice is better than what I had before, but if I can find a deodorant without propylene glycol that is similarly 'all-natural,' I'd upgrade in a heartbeat. I don't think propylene glycol could hurt me, but it is banned. In cat food (Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. 21CFR589.1001). It is government approved in topical applications by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration, which is often in the pockets of chemical companies). Maybe I just had a bad first impression? I mean my expensive 'all natural organic deodorant' came in a plastic stick with a chemical first ingredient. It is an organic alcohol-type chemical, but to me, it is still a chemical, and I don't like it. Maybe someone who knows more about these matters than my hour of research would care to comment?

Not working for me,

For me this deodorant works well for about 2-3 maybe 4 hrs, later on bad odor begins to come out. I am not going to buy another one, have to look for something else, organic too.
