It pains me to write this as I'm a big fan of Nature's Miracle products. This box has some great design features -- the slick plastic makes it easy to wipe clean and the lack of corners means the cat is more comfortable using it.

However, this product has some seriously fatal flaws. The first is that the latches aren't covered by the drip edge in the cover. This means that if you have a male cat that pees on the wall of the hood in the right area, nearly all the urine runs down into the latch and is directed outside of the box! You can use a garden sprayer to simulated the peeing action and observe this for yourself -- this is what the company should have done in the design stage. With my cat this happens about once a week or so.

The other problem is that the box doesn't have any sort of feet or standoffs to keep the bottom off the floor. This means that the bottom of the box and the floor create a sort of capillary interface that sucks in all the urine when it runs down the side of the box. So basically what happens is the box starts stinking to high heaven and you realize you have a large amount of concentrated cat urine trapped underneath it. Thank goodness we have a linoleum floor, anything else and you're done for.

This box will be perfect once Nature's Miracle releases version 2.0. Until then, it's been a little frustrating.

I bought this because it was on sale at the pet store and I figured the large size would come in handy if I decide to get a second cat. It is made from good quality plastic, not cheap looking. The plastic doesn't seem to hold odor. I like the extra large entrance and that it doesn't have a door (seems pointless). It is large enough that I can scoop it daily without having to take the lid off.

The only complaints that I would make are that the snaps to take the lid on and off are very difficult to open, and the charcoal filter is basically pointless. I don't understand how this silly little charcoal thing is supposed to help with odor. Bottom line is that if you have a decent litter and scoop it daily, odor shouldn't be an issue. I use Feline Pine Original Cat Litter, 20-Pound Bag and I love it. I doubt I will ever purchase replacement filters.

Pattern Name: Hooded Oval Cat Litter Box
I like this litter box, as do my three cats. I have four of them, but my cats will only use one.

I have had no problems with things sticking to this litter box.

I also do not have a problem scooping dirty litter out of this litter box. I use the edge of my litter scoop, as one would use a spoon to scoop the last of the ice cream out of a bowl. I don't try to spear it with the scoop as I find it to be counter productive.

The hood latches securely to the pan. I find this handy as one of my cats is a little... special... and does not really scoop into the litter. Instead he claws at the hood and side of the pan as though that will somehow make his poo less stinky.

I do not have any problems with unlatching or latching the litter box, though I do have pain problems with the joints in my hands. I could see how someone who is perhaps arthritic would have a problem unlatching this litter box.

The filter in the hood is effective. These filters must be replaced periodically, as they do become less absorbent after time. My first one lasted three months. I have replaced it using Nature's Miracle Universal Odor Control Cat Litter Box Filters, but I find them to be thinner and so they do not last as long.

I clean this litter box twice a day in order to keep it from getting too smelly or out of control. (like I said, three cats) As long as you are a responsible pet owner I do not see any reason why anyone would not be happy with this litter box.

Pattern Name: Hooded Oval Cat Litter Box Verified Purchase
After years of employing a long, plastic, open litter box for my two cats, I decided to make a change. I read every review I could find, and finally decided to try the "Oval Hooded" litter box, as I don't have the type of space in my utility room to put one designed to put in a corner. The delivery of this product was fast and efficient. I pulled off all the sticky tags, wiped it down, and installed the charcoal filter. I was amazed at how much space my cats would now have to use, filled it with clean litter, and snapped the four tabs into place (very easy!). Now, I just hoped for the best, as I was a little afraid my cats would think it was a "Cat Carrier" and not go near it. Not to worry. When I got up the next morning, I saw they both had used it with no problem. And my dream of having less litter mess to clean up on the utility room floor and less tracking into my kitchen finally came true! Yes, it is true that the snaps are a little hard to pop OFF when going to clean the box. But I would rather have them that way then "too loose". Just pick up a dry wash cloth when doing this and it becomes a breeze. The only thing I regret is waiting so long to purchase this litter box.

The plastic in the lid is somewhat flexible making it difficult to get the lid back on again. Then there are the clips which constantly fall down when you are trying to put the lid back on again and get inside between the top and bottom of the box -- making it impossible to put the lid on. I have tried taping them up and tried breaking them off with no success. The box also leaks urine. I have a male cat who pees higher on the box. The urine gets trapped in the sides ridge on the lid and leaks down and under the box. UGH! I have tile floors and I have had to clean and deodorize the floor (difficult) and then do the same with the entire box inside and out. Very disappointed NOT A MIRACLE OR ADVANCED
