So I did buy this for my daughter. Great product but it is not as good as there gold version which has better and more vitamins and minerals. The amount of lead does not scare me. Everything we eat has lead unless it was made in a lab and you took out the lead. You'd have to build it from the ground up as well. (E.G Synthetic oil, lab made vitamins)

Also the benefits literally outweight the risks since some of the vitamins/minerals in this product actually increases your body ability to absorb less lead by increasing your lead tolerance.

So here is a comment I posted on people crying about the lead in this. Please do read it. Especially you organic and natural food lovers.

""""This is pretty dumb. lead is in virtually every natural growing thing hence why the Multivitamins that had the least were the ones that were lab-made vitamins or were not as potent as animal parade. More Potent (natural-made) = more lead.

Now the dietary tolerable amount for children ages 6 and under is 6 MICROGRAMS got it?
That means that the body is able to get rid of it easily and thus no effect. What does this mean you ask? It means that even the Animal Parade Shake had 2.88 MICROGRAMS (Animal Parade Vitamins had 0.623 MCG, less than a microgram). Why am I capitalizing the micrograms? Because well a microgram is one millionth of a gram.

Food Highest Amount of Lead in a 4 Ounce (1/2 cup) Serving
Shrimp, boiled 23.8 mcg
Italian salad dressing 12.2 mcg
Mixed nuts, no peanuts, roasted 10.2 mcg
Liver, beef, fried 9.0 mcg
Brussels sprouts, fresh, boiled 7.9 mcg
Sweet potato, fresh, baked 7.2 mcg
Spinach, boiled 7.0 mcg
Dry table wine 6.8 mcg
Avocado, raw 4.5 mcg
Honey 4.5 mcg
Watermelon, raw 4.

One of my children has an allgery to red dye #40. All children's vitamins at local drug stores ALL have red dye #40. These don't and all my children LOVE them.

As far as the ingredients go, if I were judging by ingredients alone and not by nutritional content, this is a pretty decent multivitamin supplement. I have taken the adult Source of Life vitamins before and done well on them.

As far as the vitamin and mineral content, however, I find these disappointing.

The vitamin A isn't vitamin A at all, but beta carotene. I believe beta carotene is one of the most overrated "nutrients" I have ever found in a supplement, so much so that even the government disseminates incorrect information about it. If you are an infant or a child under the age of five, if you are hypothyroid, if you are diabetic or have any of a number of other health issues, or just if you just did not win the genetic lottery, beta carotene is near useless to you as a vitamin A source. Even when you can convert it optimally, you only convert as much as you need, and don't store any vitamin A away for later. So if you don't keep eating things with beta carotene in them, it is all too easy to become deficient in vitamin A. We are seeing a lot of nearsightedness now, a lot of infertility and a lot of children being born with urinary tract defects (the Mayo Clinic says this is the most common type of birth defect in the United States, in fact--Google it), all conditions connected with insufficient vitamin A intake, alongside the incredible claims made that most Americans get "too much" vitamin A. If you are going to give this supplement to your children, especially children under five, get some real vitamin A into them as well.

The vitamin D in this supplement is sub-par as well. It's ergocalciferol, or vitamin D2. As with beta carotene to vitamin A, we are not good converters of D2 to D3.

These chewable vitamins have been endorsed by my kid -- one of the fussiest, most texture- and taste-sensitive children around. I wanted a chewable (she can't swallow vitamins) without poisonous aspartame, and finally found this one. They are tasty and easy to chew, and I am pleased that she is getting supplements.

I have done some research on the lead issue and am satisfied that these are safe. It turns out that any vitamin containing natural minerals will have trace amounts of lead, due to its naturally occurring in organic materials. The lead is NOT added to the vitamin, it is in the foods used to make the vitamin. You would also get trace amounts of lead in natural foods of any sort. These tiny levels are small enough that they can be excreted safely from the body. There is no comparison to these minute quantities and the massive amounts of lead you would get from paint chips or dust.

Nature's Plus makes the best children's multi-vitamins on the market. The taste is great; well-balanced, essential nutrients. Free from allergens, artificial ingredients, etc. My kids love them, and actually miss them when they forget to take them. Great product. So much better than the ones offered in the big box stores, pharmacies, etc. Your kids will thank you for offering them.
