Tastes Great and Good for you,
By You can mix it with Juice or milk and both ways are great. Trick your kids and add it to an ice cream shake. The amount of good vitamins and minerals in this is more then anything else I have come across. I have been a fan of this shake for over 10 years and now my son loves it too. When I was pregnant and could not keep any food down this shake kept me happy and healthy. A++++

(Attn vegans: It does contain bee "pollen"....) I have loved spirutein for a while now. Though, I have narrowed my selection down to : Chocolate, vanilla, and the cookies n' cream. They're amazing. I try to drink one a day to make sure I get enough protein(14 grams per scoop) and vitamins. It's quick and easy. Especially if you have a single-serve-blender. ( I highly recommend the Hamilton Beach version, best $17 I've ever spent) These spirutein powders need a blender, even though they say "just stir in." That's not happening. For best results combine:
Spirutein powder, Milk or milk-alternative, and a thickener (ice-cream, banana, etc) and a couple cubes of ice is nice. Some flavors need a tbsp of sweetener. The choc. powder with a scoop of soy/rice vanilla ice cream and 8 oz. milk-substitute becomes the best Wendy's Frosty you've ever had. The vanilla powder with a banana, milk-subtitute, a tbsp of honey, ice and walnuts sprinkled on top is so delicious. Enjoy. And remember, protein is important if you want to keep your hair!

My wife and I have been buying and drinking this product for years. We've tried all the flavors but we both like the Vanilla best by far. The secret for making this (or any other flavor) into a delicious healthy shake is this:
Start with a decent blender that can crush ice cubes, or use the crushed ice option in your ice maker if it does that. Put 3 oz of crushed ice or ice cubes -- 5 cubes from MY refrigerator ice maker, yours may vary -- into the blender. If cubes, crush them first in the blender at high speed. Add 8 oz skim milk to the crushed ice and start blender. IMMEDIATELY add 1 measure of powder by sprinkling it in over several seconds. Blend only a few seconds more after you finish adding the powder, then pour and enjoy. [NB: Dumping the powder in all at once will often cause undissolved clumps to stick to the blender. Overblending will melt the ice and thicken the shake too much.] The drink produced by this method will be frosty and delicious, like the best milkshake you've ever had.

This review is from: Nature's Plus Spiru-Tein High Protein Energy Meal, Chocolate 2.1 lb (Health and Beauty)
I've been using Spiru-tein off and on, mostly on, for about 20 years now, since about 1988. I found out about it from my girlfriend at the time, a health fanatic and bicycle racer. Compare its nutrients to other similar products on the market and I think you'll find it hard to beat. Plus, unlike a lot of it's competitors, it has a decent taste, or at least the chocolate does. A scoop of the chocolate with a cup of skim milk is only about 180 calories, but it's pretty filling and keeps me from getting hungry for several hours. At one point I used it as my daily breakfast during a period of about 4-5 months where I cut about 40 pounds that I had accumulated over the years. The only negative I have is that it's hard to mix. You DEFINATELY need a hand blender (I use a Braun), and wash the blender and glass immediately, it hardens like concrete when dry. Hope this review helps.

Spiru-Tein is the best!!!,
By We started out with Vanilla. I add a handful of instant oatmeal- 2 baby carrots- a spoonful of peanut butter- 5 ice cubes- 1 cup 1% milk and you're hooked! The ice cubes make it like a real shake. I have a Vita Mix and that realy makes it blend well. I blend for 30 seconds. My husband uses the Vanilla with 1 cup of 1% milk - 4 TBS of Ovaltine - a handful of oatmeal- a spoonful of peanut butter- 5 ice cubes- blend for 30 seconds and I don't have to cook! I like the Strawberry. I take a cup of milk (1%)- 6 frozen strawberries- a handful of instant oatmeal- 2 baby carrots - and 4 ice cubes. Havenly and very satisfying and losing weight to boot!

Having had digestion issues since peritonitis at age 12 (now 60years of age) I stumbled upon this product when my Doctor started talking more meds, more surgery, more more more ..so tired of the more that I found a nutritionist that suggested I give this product a try...it's been 8 months now and I'm way down on the "more" list of meds..as it is a complete meal for twice a day that has reduced my digestive issues and on the side line...I eat more balanced regular meals that do not upset the balance. I'm not as fond of th chocolate, but just about every other flavor including..carrot..and the frutiena's really given me such a choice of variety I never get tried of it. I chose to use the light soy milk to mix it with and it is creamy when I make it with my bullet. It's been a life savor for me...I do recommend that you check with your own Doc (I'm an R.N.) or Nutritionist should you chose to replace most of your meals.Nature's Plus - Spiru-Tein Bluberry N Cream, 1.2 lb powder

Great Taste and Nutrition,

I love to have Spiru Tein for breakfast. It also makes a great snack and good meal replacement if you're trying to lose weight, lots of nutrients and gives you energy. I've tried a lot of protein shakes and this is my favorite. I make the vanilla flavor with 8 oz. of light vanilla soy milk, 4 oz. of water, two packets of splenda, a little cinnamon, nutmeg, and a touch of vanilla then mix with a hand mixer (shaking does NOT work well!) add some ice and voila! It's really good (it has a green tint, but it's good!).
I ordered the Strawberry Shortcake flavor and it had that chemical smell and the first time I made it by itself (w/just fat free milk), I couldn't even finish it, it tasted so bad. Then I tried it again with the splenda, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg and it's MUCH better, I can at least finish the can I have. Then I got the variety pack...so far I've tried the Double Fudge Crunch and the Cookies n' Creme which had good reviews, but I didn't care for either one. I still have a few more flavors to try from the variety pack, but I think I'll be sticking with the Vanilla! Just wish it wasn't so expensive, but if you think about what you spend a month on fast food meals, it's is a better value it's better for you! |
