Product Description

Size: 100

Nature's Way Activated Charcoal (from Indian Hardwood) is one of the finest natural adsorbent agents known. Each particle contains many small chambers and cavities that bind-up unwanted material or gas. Activated Charcoal is commonly used to adsorb digestive gas. It also protects the body from overdosing on harmful toxic substances. Due to its large surface area, activated charcoal has high adsorption properties, meaning that it keeps certain substances from being absorbed in the body's gastro-intestinal tract.

I suffer from IBS, and am very sensitive to food - so much so I hate eating. Charcoal has really helped me. I used to get stomach aches, bloating and gas after every meal - it felt like food poisoning 3 times a day.

I changed my medication, changed my diet, changed my lifestyle...nothing helped until I took charcoal after meals.

I also take a pro-biotic called Primal Defense, which really helps. Just be careful not to take the charcoal when you take your medications or vitamins because supposedly it will absorb it...

Keep some charcoal in your purse - give it a try the next time you feel like you have food poisoning or are feeling sick to your stomach.

I'm gassy.
Everything and I mean EVERYTHING makes me rip em.
I have enough gas to heat the entire city of Mpls.
Gas that was so stinky and sulphurous that Satan wanted to buy stock in my butt.
I've tried Gas X and my gas laughed (farted) right back at it.
Then I heard about activated charcoal and....two caps and an hour later...no stomach ache and my gas can kiss my ass.
See ya...my butt no longer sounds like Hiroshima.
I can actually eat in public again without cracking em off like a sub machine gun.

My physician recently directed me to take charcoal after I had a significant adverse reaction to a Cipro antibiotic regimen. He said it would help strip out the offending medication from my system more quickly. He said that with the dosage I was on, (After some strange pharmacological calculations) that it would take approximately 60 hours for the drug to exit my system naturally.

Honestly, with the charcoal though, it was significantly less time, (Probably a third the time in my case) at least in recovery from the severe negative side effects, and that feeling of being toxic or whatever it was. It was a bad situation, a serious reaction, and I was close to going into the hospital. He said to use the charcoal because we needed to expedite the removal of the Cipro from my body, which it seemed to do quite well.

He told us charcoal was safe for me to use anytime, but to avoid taking it two hours before or after eating, (Or taking any vitamins, medicines, etc.) because it will strip out medications, vitamins, and even nutrients in the food you ate if taken too close together. He also told me I should take a good multivitamin if I was going to take it for a while, to keep the charcoal from depleting my system of necessary nutrients.

This is really a good product. It does make me feel better, and its not just a mental thing. I just feel different. It's kind of hard to explain, sort of lighter or less polluted somehow. My wife has noticed the same thing - she feels better when she takes it.

This seems to me to be the best brand out there from what I've been able to determine. I'd recommend it, and surely keep some on hand in case of unexpected negative reactions to things like above, or just to keep you feeling better.

This stuff works so well it's frightening, but I do have to make one comment:

DRINK A LOT OF WATER while you are taking this stuff!

I originally started experimenting with this product as a potential way to detox my digestive track since I've noticed it was always included in some "home" kits I've tried in the past so I decided to give it a go.

What I've Noticed:

I have terrible digestion and while taking this, my digestive problems seem to vanish. I also have mild acne and facial redness that clears up with this product as well; I wasn't even expecting this but it confirms my thought that a bad digestive system does influence skin health.

I also love to exercise and I've noticed that this product will draw a lot of water out of the body... And when I say a lot.. I mean a lot! This is why I wouldn't recommend this as a permanent solution or fix. If anything, it's taught me how important it is to maintain good digestive health. I know I can use this stuff to deal with really "bad" digestive days.

My experience and gut intuition tells me that this product also will absorb any other medications or supplements that you are taking since the job of this product is to basically "trap" everything and anything it comes across down there. I would refrain from taking any unnecessary medication and/or supplements while taking this product and even be careful if you're taking prescription stuff as well.

If you suffer food or alcohol poisoning there is a very good chance that the hospital or doctor you visit will prescribe this type of product in the moment as well. On another side and related note - this stuff seems to work exceptionally well for hang overs if you take it while you are drinking ;)

This stuff has a multitude of uses. My wife took it for some stomach problems, and my daughter broke open the capsules to mix with bentonite clay on a brown recluse spider bite to draw out the poison. Worked like a champ.
