I'm going to assume that if you're looking at this product, you know that Gymnema Sylvestre can help control high blood sugar, and that you're trying to figure out if *this* is the product you want, not just if you want to take Gymnema in general.

The product information provided (as of the writing of this review) is pretty lacking. For example, the 386 mg number, which I assumed was the amount of Gymnema extract per capsule, isn't; on the bottle, it clarifies a 100 mg dose per serving... and that each serving is three capsules! The other ingredients (per serving) are Vitamin A (1500 IU), Chromium polynicotinate (300 mcg), Cinnamon bark (400 mg), Fenugreek seed extract (210 mg), Nopal Opuntia (150 mg), Bitter Melon extract (150 g) and Bilberry leaf (100 mg). For those desiring a vegan product, be aware that the capsules themselves have gelatin and this is not labelled a vegetarian/vegan friendly product.

The recommended dosage instructions say to take three capsules twice a day. So, when doing price comparisons, be aware that this bottle contains 15 days' worth of supplements only!

At this point, I can't make any claims about the efficacy of this product, as Fenugreek and Cinnamon are contraindicated for use during pregnancy (Gymnema and Chromium were recommended to me by my care provider, but of course, check with your own before taking any supplements).

Overall, due to the misleading dosage/product information (I still haven't figured out what the 386 mg refers to...), and the plethora of other ingredients, I wouldn't recommend this supplement. I'll be looking for something with a shorter ingredient list and fewer pills per dose.

I wish I had done a little more research before purchasing this item. After using it for a day I looked up more information on gymnema and found out it was the culprit behind the bitter medicine aftertaste in my mouth. Apparently gymnema is such a great sugar killer that it also affects your taste buds, even several hours after taking the pills. So, if you are after reducing or eliminating your desire for carbs or much of anything else, this might be a good thing to try. I am going to try just taking it before I go to bed, but this is not within the product recommendation and of course it would be better to take along with each meal. I've already ordered straight chromium polynicotinate so I am hoping that will better suit my needs. I want to eat less carbs too, but my real intent is to enhance the function of my pancreas and still enjoy the act of eating.

PLEASE DO NOT STOP TAKING YOUR INSULIN IN SUBSTITUTION OF THIS PRODUCT UNLESS UNDER A DOCTORS SUPERVISION!

I am not diabetic but my doctor got my blood work back a while ago and PRE-DIABETIC were the words out of his mouth. He didn't start me on anything, he didn't actually say anything else but I knew it was a warning sign.

I am disabled and aerobic exercise is a thing of my past since the extensive damage to my spine was diagnosed, and the wheelchair has been added to my wardrobe, but I do recommend exercises such as, pilates, yoga, chair exercises and/or anything else that will get a sedentary or bed ridden individual moving!

I started taking the Blood Sugar capsules as the bottle directed along with slow, moderate, diet changes and introducing a new type of exercise into my life that may help me save my life. Not only do I feel better, but my blood test have come back with a lower enough blood sugar rating that I am no longer PRE-DIABETIC. I will continue to watch my blood sugar, keep watching my diet and my exercise habits so I don't back slide. My disabilities are permanent, and I will most likely spend the rest of my life in some type of chronic pain, but I don't have to roll over and let it take over my health and eventually my life.

ONCE AGAIN: I would not suggest taking this product with out a doctor's advice! CHANGE isn't easy, but I AM CHOOSING LIFE...and the aforementioned actions will add to it instead of subtracting from it, which was my previous sedentary, pain ridden, feeling sorry for myself situation. I have almost finished the third bottle of this product and it has NOT changed my blood sugar level at all.

Don't go completely on my review because, I am not a doctor. Interduce this product to your doctor first if your are on insulin, work together with your doctor with this product. It will help you decrease your insulin intake. Give it sometime and it will help you feel better. I like it, it is not so expensive like the other co medicine. My stomach don't hurt anymore after I eat! After I eat I take "Nature's Why Blood Sugar With Gymnema" and my stomach don't hurt and I don't have to take so much Mylanta or Pipcad AC after I eat. Just in the middle of the night sometimes I have acid problems that has nothing to do with food or my diabetes. There is no pain though with my stomach when this happens. If you seem to have stomach problems after you eat. You need to try this co insulin product! I been on it for a two years now and my stomach is healed up and I injoy fruit now and other healthy foods I couldnt eat before I started this Blood Suger produce. I will continue to give up dates on this product, but I have no complains about Nature's Way...

I don't know about type 2 diabetes you need to ask your doctor to see. If only you are having problems with your stomach, that is being caused by diabetes. God Bless, you and Happy 2009 year!

I wish I would have known about all the other ingredients in combination with gymnema. When I received the capsules I realized I could not take them because of the other ingredients. Probably the gymnema would have been fine--I'll never know.
