I had done a little journal research on iodine supplementation before purchasing this, and there's some evidence that low iodine levels can lead to symptoms of hypothyroidism (tiredness, weight gain, cold hands and feet, etc) and possibly breast, prostate and thyroid cancers, ADHD, pre-eclampsia, and autism. I have many of these conditions running in one side of my family so I decided to give it a try. Within an hour or two, my hands started to feel warm. I immediately experienced a great increase in energy, which remains after taking iodine daily for the last two months. I'm also sleeping much better. My wife and son started taking this as well, also with very, very positive results.

According to NHANES, the large government study that examines nutrition in America over time, we ingest half as much iodine as we did in 1970, and very large percentage of us are deficient. This is a good way to replace what we've lost.

1. I got this for someone else but ordered two (thought I would try out). After first couple of capsules (one per day), I actually started to get good sleep. I woke up refreshed. Life seemed much more positive. I initally considered that perhaps I am having a placebo effect. Could be but I am taking it for 3 months and feel generally better if I take the capsules. I cut down on coffee significantly because I don't feel tired in the afternoons.

2. I noticed that I feel better if I split one capsule into two and have 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 in the evening. I just wrap it in a very small piece of kleenex and take it :). The capsule itself contains gelatin so the vegetarians (and Jewish and Muslim) have to do that. I wish they had this in vegetable gelatin or other non-gelatin capsules.

3. I tried to take multivitamins that contain iodine and I must say that the effect is not noticable. So I am sticking with kelp. Plus it us more natural.

4. Kelp does not have the same effect on my wife - no difference if she takes it or not. So I guess it is person specific.

Rating: 4.5 stars - would have been 5 stars or even better if the capsules did not contain animal gelatin.

I have had breast pain for a year. I had an US done on my breast that confirmed I have Fibrocystic Breasts. The pain was really bothersome especially when I lie down or sit. I had to look for a certain position or wear tight bra to lessen the pain. I took pain killers but they didn't work that well plus regular intake for a long period of time poses 'bad' systemic side effects. I stumbled across this product and reviews that other women wrote who had breast pain. I decided to try it and in about 2 days the pain was almost if not all gone. It's now my 3rd week and I just have to say that I'm satisfied. I would definitely recommend this to women who experience breast pain. BTW, I take one cap a day.

I boughtthese pills after reading on the web that it helps hair to grow. Took it consistently for about 5 months and hair grew in faster than normal. Does take a while for results but just be consistent and take every day. My hair went from 1/2 inch to just above my shoulders. I highly recommend.

Iodine is the food in which the Thyroid uses to function properly, and is found naturally in Kelp. The Thyroid is the largest of the endocrine glands in our body, and controls how quickly the body uses energy, makes proteins, and controls how sensitive the body should be to other hormones. It is the Premiere Regulator of Bodily Functions.

According to Wikipedia, the thyroid gland participates in these processes by producing thyroid hormones, the principal ones being triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4). These hormones regulate the rate of metabolism and affect the growth and rate of function of many other systems in the body. T3 and T4 are synthesized utilizing both iodine and tyrosine. The thyroid gland also produces a hormone called 'calcitonin', which plays a role in calcium homeostasis.

Here's the bottom line. If you do not have a properly functioning Thyroid Gland, your entire bodily functions may not perform as well as God intended. I know, for I suffer from Hypothyroidism, which is an underperforming Thyroid Gland. I used to have sores that would not heal on my legs and chest, but with "Synthroid" (doctor prescribed) and the use of Kelp, the sores have vanished and have not reappeared for over 4 years now. I am also losing weight, which has not been easy for me do, with the Hypothyroidism I suffer with.

All I offer today is my personal experience which may or may not work for you, nor am I qualified to diagnose or cure diseases. Your body needs Iodine in order for the Thyroid Gland to function properly.

I used this product and was excited about the price, especially because it was free shipping with Amazon Prime..

THEN... while trying to decide if it was grown in 1-10 feet of water or the "deep" ocean, my confusion was caused by the sellers statement that both are true, and that deep water is better to avoid toxic kelp...

I found that I could buy a pound of Organic Kelp Powder, the exact same stuff inside the little capsules from Amazon Prime for 8 bucks!

I can ad the powder to my cooking. Take the amount in the 4 capsules a day my family used and put it in our food :)

I was losing handfulls of hair after each shower for years after I had my child and it was really starting to show. After researching on the net I learned that iodine deficiency is one cause of hair loss and I decided to supplemnent my diet with iodine. Kelp contains a lot of iodine and this product is a now a staple for me. I've since stopped losing so much hair and depend on it for my iodine intake.

I ordered this because someone suggested that I try-- I am in full blown menopause, exhausted, tired, cant sleep, hot, cold, confused, 4 days into taking one capsule a day, I feel better. Last night I slept great, still have energy and I am active 4 hours longer than usual.. usually have about 7 hours of energy.. I am skeptical by nature, but I feel better 4 days later, we shall see. If this continues I will write another review, because right now, I feel better.. not hyper, or agitated, just NOT EXHAUSTED, every step IS NOT A CHALLENGE, I am tired because I worked hard today, not like I usually feel exhausted after not doing a whole lot.....

The first day I took this my throat felt immediately better and haven't felt sore, or the glands around my neck have not been swollen since. Of course see a doctor but I'm very pleased with the results and I didn't have to take pharmaceuticals to get relief, I prefer nature's way (pardon the pun), whenever possible.
