5.0 out of 5 stars Love This Product And Here is Why
My honest opinion is, that compared to all the other protein shakes I have tried; this is the first protein vanilla shake that I actually like. Nature's Way Reset does not taste chalky or have an awful aftertaste like so many other protein shakes that use Aspartame. Nature's Way Reset uses the natural sweetener, Stevia, which is healthier than sugar as it doesn't spike...

3.0 out of 5 stars meal replacement drink
This is a great meal replacement drink. I felt full for 4 hours, but I saw no other results.
The taste is similar to other diet drinks, but it doesnt contain asparteme or sucralose - that
is exactly what I was looking for. I just wish it lasted longer than 2 weeks for the cost.

My honest opinion is, that compared to all the other protein shakes I have tried; this is the first protein vanilla shake that I actually like. Nature's Way Reset does not taste chalky or have an awful aftertaste like so many other protein shakes that use Aspartame. Nature's Way Reset uses the natural sweetener, Stevia, which is healthier than sugar as it doesn't spike the blood sugar.

I mix the vanilla protein powder with 8 ounces of cold water and add one ripe banana and one or two ice cubes in my blender. A great vanilla fruit shake that is healthy.

For those who have bought other protein shakes and invested in 1 pound protein powder that they didn't like, try buying a single packet at any health food store to see if you like it. Some grocery stores that have nutrition centers or GNC stores may have the single packets for sale.

I can only speak for myself, the vanilla protein powder tastes great, follow the directions and add fruit to it and yes it did fill me up. Oh my gosh, I lost 2 pounds already and am going to buy the 1 pound container. But like anything else gotta cut the caloric intake, and do more walking and exercise and yes, I say this has helped me!

4.0 out of 5 stars First Impression, July 14, 2006
Well, I can't attest to the long term weight loss effects of this product, but I can comment on 1) taste 2) ingredients and 3) mixability.

Taste. I mixed the chocolate with some 'original' flavored soy milk (the instructions suggest water) which adds 17 g of carbs to the 13 g (7 are fiber) that come in the mix, and 110 calories to the mix's 130. Obviously this pretty much doubles your carb and calories (and tripled the fat). However, for me it was worth it, since it produced a fairly satisfying shake. The mix is sweetened with xylitol and stevia. It was fairly easy to mix in a glass with a fork (it would probably be better shaken or blended) and while it managed to be simultaneously thin and a bit fibrous (think moderately mixed fiber powder drink), it actually tasted okay. The fiber went down easy (unlike SlimStyles) and it actually seems to have satisfied me as well as filling my stomach with fiber. I'm sure the soy milk helped.

The ingredients seems pretty good -- xylitol, cocoa, 'natural flavors', maltodextrin, their 'proprietary viscofiber blend', whey protein isolate, stevia and a bunch of vitamins and minerals. So far, the whey hasn't upset my stomach and while the shake may have a *bit* of a stevia/xylitol aftertaste (the strawberry mixed with a couple of real berries might totally kill it), it's pretty slight and I find it preferable to the aftertaste of splenda or aspartame.

So far, so good. If you're looking for something a little less carb or chemical laden to use for meal replacement or diet attempts, this is probably worth a go. At the very least, it's fairly easy to mix and tastes okay. Compared to most of the shakes I've tried, it's excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great shake for losing weight, February 18, 2008
This has rapidly become my 'staple' shake of choice. I've tried a few others (including HempShake..not so tasty) but I keep coming back to this. I always make it with skimmed milk; tried water as they suggest in the instructions...not so nice!
The most important factors for me with this shake are the very low sugar content (contains stevia and is nice and sweet), high protein content (23g in the two scoops I use to make my shake) and high fiber content; together these mean that I can have one of these in the morning and not feel hungry until early afternoon. One benefit I've noticed (may be imaginary) is that drinking water after this shake keeps me feeling full for longer compared to others. Also contains a multi-vitamin mix which is useful if you're restricting your intake of other foods...

4.0 out of 5 stars Hits the spot; keeps me full, perfect for post-workout. But..., January 24, 2007
By
Christopher D. Mueller (Monterey, CA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I always keep a protein mix nearby for post-running as I'm always training for a few events.

I took a chance with this one at a sale at Whole Foods. I'm considering using Amazon to keep buying it. I mix this with skim milk - like mentioned, it suggests water and shows the facts based on that. With the added 9g from skim milk and the 21 per serving from Reset, that's 30g of much needed post-workout protein - and the fact that it keeps me full is perfect as I'm trying to lose a few pounds. The extra vitamins are nice, but I take a multivit so if anything this is adding a few gaps I guess.

Taste: I have a single-serving blender (highly recommended if you consistently make nutrition shakes for one... or margaritas of course) so I can't really say how easy or hard it is to mix. The blender I have actually makes for a perfect - even frothy - concoction and I really, really like the flavor. Almost like a chocolate malt... or as close as a nutrition shake can get.

So why four stars with this great review? Well, this big bottle only contains 14 servings, if you use the recommended 2 scoops. So using this as part of your weight-loss plan can get pricey (appx $1.60 per serving). Hence my hesitation - I think I could find a decent protein shake mix and add fiber for much less.

But I'd not hesitate to buy it again - I think it tastes great and does what it's supposed to do.

4.0 out of 5 stars pretty decent, January 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
received this product yesterday, tried it blended with water and 2 cubes of ice....it was thick and not too tasty. Second day decided to use skim milk and shake not blend with 2 ice cubes...wow much better!!! I notice I have been using the bathroom more than ususal, and I am a little gassy. Definetly takes away your apetite for at least 4 hours, and when I did eat..I did not eat as much. Will continue to use product..too soon to know about the weight loss.

4.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely delicious. The best chocolate "diet" shake I've had., May 20, 2010
This review is from: Nature's Way Metabolic ReSet, Chocolate, 630g (Health and Beauty)
I was looking for a meal replacement shake with low carbs, low sugars, low calories, high protein and high fiber. You'd be surprised how hard it is to find a shake like that.

This mix is just about perfect. Low glycemic index, just 1g of net sugars. No added fructose (it uses stevia & xylitol). Contains about 1/3 of your RDA of the standard vitamins, gobs of fiber and protein. I was really surprised how amazing it tastes considering that it requires only water to mix. There's no grit or grain or that weird "protein shake" aftertaste. (You can mix rice, soy or skim milk too, but I fear it'll impact the glycemic index adversely.) It's also amazingly filling. I have one every morning. It's super quick to mix in a Bullet type blender. I mix it, drink it and wash the cup in less than 4 minutes. And in the drive to work, I feel completely full.

My few criticisms are minor. Each serving requires two large scoops, so the jar will only last you two weeks taken one a day. I also think the packaging is a bit much. The canister is a lot of thick plastic. I'm certain it could be packaged into a thinner mylar pouch or something. Lastly, it contains no exotic compounds, whole foods or phytonutrients. So you'll probably want to supplement on the side if that's important to you.

This is far and away superior to any mass market "diet" shake. I'll definitely be buying it again!

4.0 out of 5 stars This is a good product, from someone who doesn't use shakes very often, May 25, 2009
I bought this at a health food store because I wanted to jump start my post-partum weight loss. I've always done better on a ketogenic-type diet, but it was always hard to stay on at work because of the widespread availability of carbs. I have one for breakfast, which keeps me 100% satisfied until lunch (if not, I'll just nibble on a few cashews and I'm all set), and another with lunch with a small salad or something light. It has helped me drop 5 pounds in about 1.5 weeks.

As for the taste, it is WAY WAY better than comparable slimfast shakes, the price is better, you can adapt it to fit your needs (see other reviews for what they do), and it is convenient. I use a "Blender Bottle" to make mixing and drinking on the go easier. It is a tad bit gritty, probably because of the ViscoFiber, but that is fine with me - fiber is what keeps you full. I've only tried the choco but it tastes great.

The ONLY reason I gave this 4 stars is because I think the company could do better when it comes to their packaging. It is such an unbelievable level of waste to have a container this large. When the product settles, it only occupies 1/2 the container! There must be a better, more environmentally conscious way to package this stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars I've lost 15lbs in two months!, July 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Nature's Way Metabolic ReSet, Chocolate, 630g (Health and Beauty)
I've tried so many different protein shakes and weight loss drinks over the years and most really only taste good after you load them up with a ton of fruit and yogurt, which balloons up the calories and carbs and pretty much defeats the purpose. Metabolic Reset is one of the first drinks I've tried that is actually drinkable, and I'd even go so far as to say it's fairly smooth and creamy blended with just water. It's not powdery or chalky and because it doesn't have aspartame, there's no chemical aftertaste.

I've been using it now for several months and have lost about 15lbs but this product is just one part of a whole routine. I use it as a meal replacement for lunch. I have oatmeal for breakfast and a light dinner early in the evening. I also try to exercise at least a few minutes everyday. So far, so good. I'd like to lose five pounds more, but I'm pretty happy with where I'm at currently. Once I'm down to my goal weight I'll probably have one of these shakes for lunch ever other day or so as maintenance.

Though I am losing weight using this product, honestly, I think it has more to do with the fact that I'm exercising more and simply eating less. The benefit of using this product is that I don't have to count calories or plan out what I'm having for lunch, so the only meal that I really have to manage is my dinner. That makes it so much easier and removes the possibility of "slipping" at lunch.

One thing: I do add a slash of plain almond milk to the water before blending it. You're supposed to mix it with water only and I'm sure adding almond milk diminishes the glycemic benefit somewhat, but it makes it so much richer and satisfying. If I'm really craving something rich and sweet I mix it entirely with almond milk... it tastes almost (and I say almost, in that "I'm dieting and this is as good as it's going to get" sort of way) like a chocolate shake. In general, it tastes enough like a treat that I find myself looking forward to it as lunchtime approaches.

Regarding the cost: several reviewers have complained about the cost, but here it's almost half of what it goes for in a vitamin shop. It works out to less than two dollars per serving... there's not a lot I can eat for lunch that's even remotely healthy for that little.

4.0 out of 5 stars Chocolate YUMMY Vanilla YUCKY, February 3, 2010
By
Tavie 76 (Anchorage, AK) - See all my reviews
I love the chocolate shake. I don't use it as a weight loss supplement. I use it as a quick breakfast or snack when I am in a hurry. I have blood sugar issues and this drink helps me maintain a good level. Sometimes when I am craving something tasty, but I don't want to have something sinful, I have a shake instead. I find the chocolate mix to be creamy, yummy and filling. I blend mine with soy milk which takes this product to a whole new level of enjoyability. Even using 1/2 soy milk 1/2 water makes this otherwise okay shake into an excellent treat.

The vanilla on the other hand is a different story. That is that most disgusting foul yuck yuck powder drink. Nothing can help that flavor. Not soy milk, not real milk, not the addition of fruit. It is terrible. It even smells funny and looks sickly. I won't buy that again.

So overall, I will rate this mix 4 stars. It looses a star since I have to add my own soy milk to make it worth the extra star. I would dock it one more star because the taste of vanilla mix still haunts me and is only worth about two stars, but I don't want to turn people off of a very good product (THE CHOCOLATE ONE).
