TOP 500 REVIEWERon March 19, 2012
In my quest for a different and more powerful daily supplement I picked Nature's Way Alive Mens +50 at a box store. I like what's in it and it didn't give me that sick feeling many vitamins give me. When I checked Amazon I found the product was a little different. Instead of 50 count it was 60 and most of the ingredients were stronger. Plus it was cheaper. So I ordered it through the Amazon subscription and the price went even lower (and no shipping or tax). With the 60 count I ordered the vitamins to be sent every two months. Couldn't ask for better service. I highly recommend these vitamins. Are there better - yes. But you'll be paying a high price.

Amazon's price for this great vitamin is about 33% less than my local Whole Foods. Walmart's price is about 66% less!

That is, until I compared the side panel on the box, where the supplements and their amounts are listed.

I just bought my first box from Whole Foods, so I've only used Alive! Men's 50+ for one day. Came home, read the reviews here. Then noticed Walmart had the same thing for even less!

I couldn't believe it. I SHOULDN'T have, and neither should you.

I cut out the side panel of the box of the product I'd just bought at Whole Foods to Walmart for a side-by-side comparison. The Walmart version, same manufacturer, same packaging, only 50 instead of 60 tablets, turned out to have LESS THAN HALF THE AMOUNT of each supplement.

You would never know, unless you compared the amounts side by side.

Lesson? Nature's Way is obviously willing to manufacture a cut-rate product for Walmart, in identical packaging, with no mention that the amounts / potencies of the supplements are less than half.

My five stars are based on what the knowledgeable Whole Foods manager told me about the product, and his customers' responses, other reviews around the web, and the comments here on Amazon.

I will order a bottle from Amazon in 60 days, when my bottle from Whole Foods runs out. Because I can save about $6 per bottle. Are they the same? There is no way to tell, as far as I can see, on Amazon's site since the supplements are not detailed by amounts.

I will save my cutout from the bottle I bought at Whole Foods, and see.

All I know from what I've learned is that Nature's Way is willing to cut a deal with Walmart for a cut-rate product at a cut-rate price, in identical packaging, but with less than half the potency.

With many decades of taking vitamin supplements behind me, I've experienced the good and the mediocre, and find that this multi-vitamin makes a big difference in my energy level and sense of general well-being.... something that's most notable when I neglect to take it and feel sluggish.

It's a good price here compared to my local stores, even when I opt for Prime next day delivery for an additional $4, which I do during warm weather to avoid having the vitamins getting heated up and their value dimished by sitting in hot delivery trucks for days.

When comparing the price against other supplements note that these require just one tablet a day. Even the regular Alive! multi requires three per day.

In the past 6 months or more, the Natures Way Alive! brand formulation has changed for ALL their supplement products containing the former Vitamin E/d-tocopherol to the synthetic, (i.e. scientifically-proven to cause cancer) Vitamin E/dl-tocopherols. People intaking Vit E in that synthetic form have had a 30% spike in cancer per 3rd party studies! That "l" indicates it is synthetic. The labels for these products selling online have not been updated anywhere or, only depict the front without the vitamin breakout line by line. The product now has "dl-tocopherols" so the boxes product descriptions SHOULD show the dl-tocopherol is among the ingredients.

By law, only 10% of the product needs to be 'natural' to be able to claim 'natural'...I will be changing to another brand and I'm not happy about that. Bring back the old formulation with SAFE ingredients please!

This is one of those product that you must use to appreciate. Sometimes the results are not known until you stop using the product. You feel good when you are taking them on a daily bases, so it is not until you stop that you realize how well they were working. I am not a doctor, but I do know that everyone is different. Do I continue to take these vitamins for Men 50 and over? I sure do and I feel great.

Great stuff, but let's get rid of the elephant in the room first: this is a big pill, but easily taken with some liquid.

That being said I am not a person who has ever been sensitive to the effects of any vitamin or supplement except for Niacin. After some research and a Naturopath telling me I needed copper, I found that this was rated very highly by other users. I checked the reputation of the company; very high. All the ingredients were there for a proper mix of digestives and supplements and trace minerals.

Voila! The perfect and complete package and at a great price.

You do have to take one a day for awhile to notice any differences, and they may be subtle, but they will happen and you will be happy.

My husband loves the liquid Multi by Alive, but it made me nauseous and he needs something he can use while he's flying (pilot - gone more than he's home!) so we switched to these. He loves them. Large but easy to swallow, no aftertaste, no nausea, easy to travel with. Great men's ultra potency multi. Will definitely keep ordering here. I found the Alive brand Men's multi at Walmart - but NOT the Ultra Potency. This is the only place to get this formula that I could find.

I bought these vitamins for my husband. They are somewhat large, but have a good microfilm coating on them for easy swallowing. I liked the fact that they have specific vitamins and minerals aimed at supporting heart and prostate health, which means I have to give him fewer extra supplements.

I've tried a number of supplements for various reasons. Most the time I can't tell if there is any benefit. With this form of Alive with the extra B vitamins I feel as though I have more energy. I'm on my 4th bottle of this and I plan on continuing using this form of Alive.

this is a well thought through Multi Vitamin, the mix of vitamins and minerals precludes the need to take a number of additional supplements, I am now down to this, kelp and krill oil.
