Better tasting flax oil than other brands I have tried.

It is a really big bottle for much less than what you would pay at the grocery store.

Have been purchasing this item locally but the price was killing me. Can't beat the online price and the shipping/delivery was very fast. I take two tablespoons daily to increase my eyes' natural tear productiong. Dry eye trouble due to Lasik surgery in February 2008. Opthalmologist told me this would help and so far I am pretty sure it is helping... a lot. First, I make sure the lid is on good and tight and the flip-top snapped shut, then I shake the heck out of it while holding it upside down, then because it is so thick, I unscrew the cap to pour -I DO NOT TRY TO SQUEEZE IT THROUGH THE FLIP-TOP LID - it is just too thick. Better tasting flax oil than other brands I have tried. CAUTION: Make sure you keep it in a cool place prior to opening. After opening, make CERTAIN it is kep REFRIGERATED. Again, great stuff.

I had gastric bypass almost 2 years ago and as part of the protocol I'm supposed to have a protein shake every morning. A friend of mine recommended that I take Flax Seed Oil and/or Fish Oil due to the many health benefits it provides. So I thought I would start adding it to my shakes every morning.

It looked a little funny at first. You're supposed to shake up the bottle real good and then squirt the oil out through the "valve" bottle opening. It actually looks pretty gross. It's got bits of seed in there but it's explained on the bottle that it's expected. So I went with it.

To my surprise it actually enhanced the flavor of the shake and made it noticeably smoother! I think this is an excellent product and with this very reasonable price I'm happy that I can do a little something more to make myself more healthy with very little added daily cost.

For those who are interested and need a protein shake every day, here is my very delicious recipe (Note, this isn't exactly low calorie!):

1.5 (12 oz) water
2 scoops of Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard, Double Rich Chocolate, 5 Pound
2-3 Tablespoons of Peanut Butter
1 Banana
1 Tablespoon of Flax Seed Oil
1-2 Cups of Ice (depending on how "shakey" you want it to be)
Blend until smooth

*** UPDATE *** Just got my second bottle of this stuff. Still love it. Packaging was better this time (first time cap was broken).

I have IBS and a friend recommended pure flax oil, in addition to my 3-6-9 supplements, to help with 'movement' in my bowels. I will admit, I dont know exactly what it does, but I have been taking 1-2 tablespoons of this everyday and my stomach aches, rumblings, blockages and discomforts have really lessened. I buy Activia smoothies, drink 1/3 of it and then pour in 1-2 TBSP of the flax oil, shake it up and chug it down. Its been 2 months and so far so good!

I've been buying flax oil for several years. The price on this product is by far the lowest. I had been buying from Vitamin Shoppe until I found this price. Last check on the VS site was $15.99 for 24 ounces. As far as I can tell, the quality is comparable.

Since I use the product daily, I elected to get regular deliveries which lowered the price some more. Very satisfied with this product and definitely satisfied with the price.

First of all I think I could have used the less expensive alternative just as well given that I doubt I would ever use this oil for cooking. I am trying to keep an open mind about that, but not so much yet.

This worked very well in seasoning the cast iron pans we use. You clean the pan well, and then coat the pan interior surface with this oil. It is thick and so it adheres well. There are solids in the oil, which a strainer in the cap catches. So if you take the cap off do not use the solids since they will burn.

Put the pan in a pre-heated 350 degree oven, no hotter, for one solid hour. I put a big cookie sheet underneath the pans to catch the drips and lined it with foil. Do not put the seasoning on the outside of the pan especially if it is a ceramic, because the oil just bunches up and does little good.

What you are essentially doing is 'varnishing' the pan with an oil that contains drying agents. A Non-edible equivalent would be boiled linseed oil which would probably make you sick, but it is used as a base in oil paints. It works well outdoors.

After you season the pan you must let it cool, and then refrain from washing it with soap, or overheating the pan because you will burn the oil coating like you would anything else like that.

I suppose there are other oils one might use in the same way, but I have had my best results with this heat and flaxseed oil, although next time I will use something without 'super lignans' which I believe are more related to flaxseed oil being used as a health food.

Great product. Tastes better than fish oil. I've taken a spoon every morning for last two years now, and it helped me overcome all of my allergies. Feels great not to be allergic to anything anymore. Highly recommend.

The added lignan sludge is awful. No so much the taste (though it does change the taste) and the color (dark), but the practical problem that it sits at the bottom of the bottle and you can't get it out. If you shake well before each use, then by the end you get a plug of lignan blocking the bottle's neck.

I've tried at least one other brand and can't find one I like with added lignan. I recommend getting plain pure flax oil (which I find delicious on hot cereal, bread, or popcorn), and then, if you want the fiber, eating milled flaxseed (which I find tasty on cereal, yogurt, or spaghetti sauce).
