Can a person literally be in love with a pot?,
By
This review is from: Naturestone Soapstone 3 Liter Pot with Lid (Kitchen)
I 've had this pot for several years now. I think it will be 6 years in January. I was looking online to replace the lid, which unfortunately got dropped, cracked and is unrepairable.
That's life. I am not deleting a star for that. Each pot has it's own personality. I got mine at a store where I went through each one till I found the one with the right size and texture to suit me. This is not to say don't go and buy one online, just know what you are getting is a natural product and will be unique. Curing it is not a big deal, especially if you have experience with cast iron pans. The main difference is that the stone soaks up a lot of oil, and you have to let that set in overnight before you cure it in the oven. The pot comes with instructions which I followed and was happy with except for one thing - it's very hard to not cure some oil on the copper band. That takes a little of the aesthetic value away in my opinion, so try and avoid that. As for cooking, it keeps things really hot, and continues to boil after the heat is off. I've heard it's good for keeping things cold, too. I love anything I cook in it even more, because somehow it just makes everything look so natural and wholesome. As for cleaning- the worst burnt on mess comes off really easily with steel wool, and you don't have to worry about scratching the stone as you would with Teflon or cast iron. Definitely get one if you are drawn to it. In a world full of shoddy, disposable products, this item is sure to become a treasured heirloom.

This is a beautiful pot! The quality is very nice. And it heats up much quicker than I expected (even on an electric stove).
I hope to update my review after I cook more with the pot. My challenge right now is how to best cure the pot. My plan is to sautee some spices in ghee and use that to cure the pot. I want to cure it with an oil that will not easily oxidize or break down over time. I plan to use spices with high anti-oxidant values together with Ancient Organics ghee (the best). Then I will follow the instruction included with the pot for curing it.
