5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT teether BPA free, non toxic, gentle on gums yet tough
We've literally tried dozens of teethers since our son started teething at two months. He has incredibly sensitive, raw gums (he can fall down, bang his head, and be fine, but with teething, he's miserable). We've tried homeopathic remedies like Hyland's liquid and quick dissolving tablets (with little relief), nighttime Orajel, and tons of teethers from teething...

I bought one of these teethers for my infant son and just learned that Health Canada recently recalled this teether as testing "revealed that the liquid filling of the teether may be contaminated with the bacteria Bacillus sphaericus/fusiformis. These bacteria generally do not cause illness. However, the bacteria may cause infection in children with weakened immune systems if the teether is punctured and the liquid filling from the teether is ingested or enters open wounds." http://cpsr-rspc.hc-sc.gc.ca/PR-RP/recall-retrait-eng.jsp?re_id=885 While this might not be enough to deter some parents from purchasing this teether, I thought others should be aware of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT teether BPA free, non toxic, gentle on gums yet tough, September 28, 2008
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Natursutten BPA-Free Chill-It Teether, Fish, 3-12 Months (Baby Product)
We've literally tried dozens of teethers since our son started teething at two months. He has incredibly sensitive, raw gums (he can fall down, bang his head, and be fine, but with teething, he's miserable). We've tried homeopathic remedies like Hyland's liquid and quick dissolving tablets (with little relief), nighttime Orajel, and tons of teethers from teething blankets, to animals, to cold (even frozen) washcloths, to refrigerated teethers from every manufacturer we could find - even organic. Unfortunately, teething on soft stuffed teething animals doesn't appeal to him.
The newborn refrigerated teethers help the most because they are cool and the softest on raw gums, but as soon as the first tooth broke through, we had to discontinue using them because of the bursting risk. The next level of teethers are necessarily harder; made out of thicker material, but they're too harsh on puffy, raw gums. Until we found Natursutten! What a difference!!! You can feel the difference in your hand by squeezing them. They're not as thin as the newborn teethers, so they won't break with baby teeth, yet they're not hard like most teethers, so they're much gentler on red, puffy, sore gums that need soothing and gentle easing to let teeth come through. Even refrigerated, they retain they're gentleness. They are an amazing find for us! Another Plus: both the yellow apple and blue fish have an open design and enable a way to secure them to a stroller or car seat bar so your child can access the teether when he/she needs it and won't lose it!! Check out the "Baby Buddy Secure a Toy" that come in lots of colors. Wonderful for pacifiers, teethers, and toys!
We're also trying the Learning Curve Vibrating Star teether with success, but it doesn't go in the fridge so when pain is at its highest, Natursutten seems to be the way to go. Hope this helps as much as it helped our little one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally- a safe teether of this style!, September 2, 2008

I have been searching everywhere for a safe teether for baby! I am trying to avoid buying "made in China" items and also am looking for BPA free toys/feeders/etc. This is EXACTLY what I wanted. It is made in GERMANY and has to meet at least the European (which is more strict than USA) safety requirements. I am comfortable with allowing baby to mouth this toy to soothe the pain from teething, and it is so good that I can stick it in the refrigerator for a nice cooling sensation on baby's gums. DO NOT FREEZE IT. I think the blue fish style is the cutest rather than the yellow apple, but I have both and they are both wonderful. SO MUCH BETTER than what I have been able to find in the department and discount stores around here.

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect teether, January 15, 2009
This review is from: Natursutten BPA-Free Chill-It Teether, Fish, 3-12 Months (Baby Product)
This is a great safe (i.e. toxin-free) teether. It seems to be the perfect level of firmness and my son holds it easily because it's more or less shaped like a thin donut and he can get a great grip on it. It's also easy for him to hold in his mouth with just his teeth so he can be 'hands-free' to crawl and play. As a parent, I appreciate and value that it is BPA and PVC-free; I was willing to pay a for those features, in addition to its' being made in Germany rather than China. I definitely intend to purchase more to keep as spares in the fridge.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but expensive, January 16, 2009
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars
The product is good and my son likes it, but it's a little expensive for what it is. I found many other BPA free teethers at our local store for $3 that he likes just as much. The texture on the surface is a good touch and is worth a bit more, but with shipping it was just too much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleased Parent, April 14, 2009
My wife and I have been looking everywhere for a teether that was not made in China and is BPA-free. This is it. We have been using it for two weeks now and my daughter loves it. It's a touch pricey... so it's not for everyone, but I think it is one of only a few options. Alternatively, we have "squeezed" water into our pacifiers and froze those. That option works well with our daughter, but we did not want her to use a pacifier that often. This teether is our other option. Good buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Baby likes it cold; Mom likes that it's BPA free, April 10, 2009

My 5 month old likes this fishy right after I take it out of the fridge. This week his 2 bottom teeth broke through and this has made him feel better. He takes turns between this fishy and his Sophie The Giraffe, which he can grab easily too. I would recommend both teethers highly when you can't supervise your baby 100% (like in the car seat). When you're at home, my baby likes to teeth on a long piece of organic celery or a peeled, cold organic carrot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pay a little more for something of quality - it goes in your baby's mouth after all!, February 26, 2009
By
This review is from: Natursutten BPA-Free Chill-It Teether, Fish, 3-12 Months (Baby Product)
This is by far the best teether I've found. The traditional teething rings sold in the big baby stores all seem to be made in China & they smell really odd - like glue or something. I've noticed that many of them (Sassy, Bright Starts, etc - even some that claim to be BPA free) have a residue that comes off on your skin & transfers the smell as well. This just can't be good for an infant to injest, regardless of how small the quantity. And if I wouldn't put it in my own mouth, why would I offer it to my baby? Spend the $[...] bucks - it's totally worth it!

By the way, the apple is much cuter (and a nicer, lighter color) in person!

1.0 out of 5 stars started leaking after two days, April 24, 2010

I bought this top of the line all natural teether for my 4 month old who has no teeth. After only two days i noticed the diaper bag was wet, when i checked it out, sure enough this teether had sprung a leak in two places. It just wasn't securely sealed. I assure you that it wasn't squashed, stepped on, or misused in any way. Soon after I found out about the recall. Needless to say I was not impressed with this poorly crafted over-priced teether. I do love this brands pacifiers though, she has been using that gnaw on since this one broke. What a waste of money!
