Being Mr. Mom, I'm not a big time reviewer of baby things, but I had to speak out about this. My wife and I have been using these ECO-Sensitive wipes for almost two years. At first we loved them. The cleaning power, but gentle as well. We recently ordered our next batch a few weeks ago, and I'm very unhappy. NATY had changed the formula a month or so ago, and removed the organic ingredients from the composition. They quietly did this and didn't let people know. In fact, the formula is very different! They now also contain a light but odd smell. I wrote to NATY about this, and this is the email that I got:

Hi (name),

Thanks for taking the time to contact us. We are grateful for your loyalty to Nature babycare. We apologize for the delay in responding to you.

Your feedback and comments regarding our wipes are incredibly valuable to us. Thank you for providing the information below so that we can report it back to our factory. We changed suppliers at the beginning of the year to utilize their advanced technology in eco-friendliness, as well as, the potential to ramp up production in order to keep up with the demand for our products.

We are constantly striving to improve and changes in design sometimes occur but should never compromise the quality of our products. Please know that our formula is the same. However, it is possible that any variance of measurements in the dosage of the moisture ingredients could create a different smell. We very rarely have issues regarding our scent so we will definitely investigate how this could happen.

We certainly appreciate your honesty in reporting your concern. Be assured that we only use natural ingredients in our wipes as they are the "greenest" on the market. If you would like to contact Amazon.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: I have been using the Nature Babycare diapers and wipes since my son was born and have always been very happy with them, HOWEVER, I recently re-checked the ingredient list on the wipes and was SHOCKED to see phenoxyethenol as an ingredient. There are also a couple other (less toxic) ingredients in their aloe wipes. I am not sure why or when they changed their formulation (SHAME ON THEM!!) but I have written to the company in hopes of getting more information. This is disappointing and so very frustrating! If you are looking for a chemical free option try Jackson Reece Herbal Baby Wipes - they contain ONLY aloe, tea tree oil, lavender essential oil and purified water. Hopefully they keep it that way! UGH!

REVISED REVIEW: Apparently Nature Babycare, once again, no longer uses phenoxyethenol in their wipes. I feel good knowing that enough of us complained when they suddenly changed their formulation causing them to eventually change it back (albeit a few years later). Their original CLEAN list of ingredients was the reason I chose their products in the first place. I have upped my review from 1 star to 2. The reason I am not giving them a higher rating is that they did not inform anyone of the formula change when they started to use Phenoxyethenol and it took me a while to catch on. There was no advance notification on their website, or on any of the other websites selling their products as to the change. I had been ordering their diapers and wipes by the case on Diapers.com and I am sure I used several cases, never knowing I was using an ingredient I had specifically tried to avoid. Shame on me for not being more diligent, but I thought I had done my research and found a brand I could really trust.

I have used these wipes for over 2 years and I have always been very happy with them. My daughter has very sensitive skin and these were the only ones that didn't make her break out. ( I also use the diapers and love them!) There was always the occasional problem of the wipes not separating properly but it was tolerable because the wipes were so good. But I was very disappointed with my last shipment when I realized the size was smaller, the separation problem has gotten worse and they seem dryer than before. It now takes more wipes to clean a poopy diaper, which is very wasteful, and they don't pull apart well. You'll get 4 or 5 in a row stuck together and then they will totally break apart and you have to dig down into the package for the next one. I hope more people will write in if you've experienced these issues. I really want to use these wipes again but I am currently trying Seventh Generation and Tushies again to see if I can be happy with them. Its so unfortunate when companies think that skimping on their products will save them money when it will actually lose them money by losing customers.

I know there are a lot of complaints about the new packaging, but I don't think it is a question of the company trying to save money or skimp on the product by cutting down the size of the wipes and the package-- I think they downsized because it makes much less waste and they are an environmentally friendly product. If you feel that the wipes clump together when you take them out of the package, the solution is to take the number of wipes you need for your baby out of the package BEFORE you start the diaper change (then put the ones you need back in the package or in your diaper bag portable wipe case). That way you aren't pulling out a bunch of wipes... It makes it a lot easier to have everything ready before the diaper change, regardless. I've never had a problem with that, and I have never used more wipes than necessary. This product is amazing, and truly the only company for baby care products right now that is almost 100% green (no company is truly 100%, but this one is the closest in this product category). I would buy all their products regardless for that reason alone... But as it is, not only do I love them for that-- every single one of their products are also AWESOME!!! My child has never gotten a diaper rash with Nature Babycare, because I know that the wipes (and diapers) are great for his skin and are all-natural. Other diapers and wipes I have used in the past before I found these, *always* caused problems with rashes/irritation, etc. (Yes, Seventh Generation and Earth's Best-- including you!) Also, the companies I just mentioned are NOT as "Eco-Friendly" as they profess to be-- the products are not made with biodegradable materials. Read the labels and packaging, and find out more about so-called "green" companies in general (often they aren't everything they profess to be).Read more ›
