About the Author

Bruce Timm is an Emmy Award-winning artist, writer, director and producer who has been working in the animation field for nearly three decades. The majority of his career has focused on the DC Animated Universe for Warner Bros. Animation. Beginning with Batman: The Animated Series in 1992, Timm's character designs and vision have had a substantial impact that redefined the genre of superhero animated TV shows and movies--an influence that continues to this day. His contributions include key roles working on the TV series Superman: The Animated Series, The New Batman Adventures, Batman Beyond and Justice League. Timm has served as producer or executive producer for over a dozen animated films, including Wonder Woman, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, All-Star Superman and Batman: Year One. Timm also enjoys the occasional work in comics. He is the recipient of two Eisner Awards. His first was in 1994 for the art on Batman Adventures: Mad Love, which won for Best Single Issue. He contributes covers, pin-ups and stories to various titles as his time permits. Past contributions include Avengers, Batman Adventures, Captain America: Red, White and Blue, Conan, Harley and Ivy, Tom Strong's Terrific Tales, Vampirella and Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Comics Magazine. Bruce is currently working as executive producer on the new Green Lantern: The Animated Series and the upcoming film Justice League: Doom.

Jim Steranko is a controversial figure in contemporary culture, with multiple careers as an author, designer, musician, photographer, carnival fire-eater, publisher, male model, art director, escape artist, and illustrator. He created the first Modern Graphic Novel; collaborated with Francis Coppola, Steven Spielberg, and George Lucas on their biggest hits; and, with Stan Lee, is critically acclaimed as one of the prime Architects of the Marvel Age of Comics.

I will be revisiting this book many times in the near future.

Even though it's a soft cover book, it feels very solid and printed on heavy paper.

And if you do like this kind of art you may want to look at some of mine.

Massive oversize coffeetable book filled to the brim with gorgeous art. From rough sketches to markers to full paints, every page is a masterpiece. I am a massive Timm fan and this book blew my mind. It is worth every penny. The book is a little light on text, with no actual input from Timm himself, yet I couldn't bring myself to care, the art is so good. Heavy on the nudes but with a PG DC section, along with a horror/pulp section heavy on the Hammer films. Get the Bruce Timm Modern Masters from Twomorrows as a companion piece.

These days I prefer most things in digital form, but the art book is one area where the physical form has significant advantages.

This paperback version is THICK and relatively large, but the real kicker is the print quality which is superb. You can really study the pencils/inks/colors of Mr Timm's work in great detail.

I will be revisiting this book many times in the near future. If you're on the fence about this purchase, I would recommend picking this up before it goes out of print. The initial run was sold out and prices rocketed to close to triple the cover price. As of this writing, Amazon has it back in stock for twenty dollars less than the cover price (fifty). This price won't last long. This looks like an expensive book to print so there is no chance they are overprinting this sucker.

That said, this book is actually well worth triple figures. I'm such a fan that I'm going to try to track down the hardcover edition which is even more expensive. An impressively gorgeous collection of work.

I ordered the signed and numbered hardcover directly from the publisher and I was very pleased with the book. It's an oversized hardcover with a slipcase (similar to DC's "Absolute" volumes). The book is mostly nudes in Timm's signature style, but there is a good amount of variety. DC girls Batgirl, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, Batwoman, Supergirl and Poison Ivy make sexy but PG-rated appearances. There are also a few illustrations of the vampire women and monsters of Hammer films. This is a thick tome with one piece to a page, so you'll definitely get your fill of Timm "good girl" art. Highly recommended!

I knew this book was going to be jam packed, but seeing the physical thing far exceeded my expectations. It's a big book. A big, heavy book. And nearly each individual page is dedicated entirely to a piece of work. I love it! If you are a fan of Bruce Timm, do not let this one go!

What a triumph! This book is filled with vixens in Timm's signature style. Some dynamic, some action but all amazing. It's slightly oversized and quite long with a girl per page, for the most part. This tome is light on text and even lighter on his background, which would have been nice, but it's available elsewhere. (See Modern Masters.) There are maybe a half dozen to a dozen pages showing pencils and the subsequent paint.

Would I have loved more process? Of course, but Timm gave us this and we should all be grateful. Timm takes the pinup and owns it completely.

The book contains exactly what the title says: an huge collection of Bruce Timm's pin-ups of good (and some bad) girls.
The only words are those of Steranko in the introduction, perhaps it should be interesting some from Timm too.
Otherwise a good example of Timm's art, even if a little repetitive.

This book is exactly what I like. Big format, stuffed with art, the pictures are full page and not crammed with multiple pics on the same page like some other books, and it's not a biography masquerading as an art book. This book is jam packed with lush goodness. I just wish I would have been able to afford the hardcover version.
