This double lp on a CD from the Capitol vaults in England sounds great and beats any compilation of Billy's material slowly being released stateside. That classic sax choir slurp, the punched up brass, and a driving rhythm section are revealed thanks to a fine digital transfer of a well kept master. Mostly uptempo and a few ballads will only wet your appetite for more of the marvelous Mr. May!

Wow!! This is cutting edge mono! I was tempted to give this only 4 stars because it is MONO... I just can't! It's to good. Naughty Operetta was laid down in '55 while Fancy Dancing was from '57, just a few months before stereo...it does not matter...it's that good...one of the best big band mono recordings I've heard...As VARIETY would say,<BOFFO>!

This is heaven for any Billy May fan's. I'd even say this CD is better than his records with Frank Sinatra. This is the finest genius, upbeat mid-20th Century instrumental set you're likely to find. Words cannot describe the pleasure. Highly eargastic. What a beautiful world we'd have if everyone had this music. Mozart level creativity. If you can find it. Don't hesitate. You must own this CD.
