Good value for money, some minor flaws
on January 11, 2013
I bought this watch to wear it to the beach. I did not want to wear any of my more expensive (and fragile) mechanical watches to the beach, so I was looking for a fashionable but not too expensive water resistant watch with a rubber strap that could withstand sand and salt water.
This watch fits the bill perfectly. The watch has a screw down crown which improves its water resistance. The black PVD coating on the case & the mineral glass seem solid and reasonably scratch resistant. The rubber strap is soft and comfortable, but one does sweat a bit more under a rubber strap than under a leather strap. I did not have the same problems with my strap as some of the other reviewers (easy & permanent staining of the yellow strap).
With its 47.5 mm case diameter the watch is pretty big, but looks great on the arm. The watch is heavy and has a solid, high quality feel to it.
I did however notice some minor flaws. The alignment of the chronograph second arm with the dial markers is really poor. When using the stop watch function, the second arm comes to rest in between the second markers of the dial instead of precisely on them, as it should. can accept this for an inexpensive watch like this, but still believe that even in this price segment the manufacturer should be able to get this right. casio certainly can! Secondly, the chronograph buttons don't operate as smoothly as I am used to from the mechanical chronographs that I own, but then again maybe its unreasonable to expect this.
Overall, it's a very nice, solid and sporty looking watch perfect for activities in the water. Some of the above mentioned flaws can be forgiven for this price.
