About Recumbent Exercise Bikes
Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out.

The term recumbent literally means "lying down." Exercising in a recumbent or reclining position allows the user to have full ergonomic back support, without causing strain on the arms, neck and shoulders, all of which can be common effects of using an upright bicycle. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

The bike works great. Exactly as advertised. Putting it together took about an hour and was pretty easy. Everything fit together perfectly.

3.0 out of 5 stars NAUTILUS NR2000 DEFECTIVE, August 16, 2008
This review is from: Nautilus NR2000 Recumbent Exercise Bike (Sports)
Purchased NR2000 online thru Amazon and price was less than other sites on web and qualified for free shipping--that was the good part. The assembly instructions were incorrect and the listed screws needed to attach plastic cover on front end of bike was wrong size and they had included the correct size screw without telling you of their error. Consequently,I contacted customer service by phone and told them screw listed was missing and they instructed us to send an email thru product registration and assigned me a registration number and told me they would then ship the "missing screws". They never responded to the email and after a few days we decided to proceed with the rest of the assembly and discovered their error and attached cover with the smaller screws they had supplied without explanation of their use. Worse of all after finally assembling bike we tried to attach power cord and discovered the attaching piece for power cord inside the bike could not be seen on front of bike and was bent off to side. We could have returned it but it would have ben a major hassle after assembling the bike. Instead I was able to bend the defective metal inside front casing back to its proper position with some effort and reassembled front casing and the bike seems to work fine.I expected a higher quality product from nautilius and better customer service--I am sure this was not the first time people called them about this problem and they at the least should have included a supplemental instruction note to correct their assembly book errors or better yet write a new instruction book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great exercise bike!, March 24, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Nautilus NR2000 Recumbent Exercise Bike (Sports)
This is a great bike. Assembly is not easy to do alone if you're a weakling like me - have someone around to help because some of the parts are heavy. Once it's assembled, you'll love it.

I've used this bike almost everyday for the past year and it's still like new. I love the different pre-programmed rides and knowing how many calories I've burned. The bike can tell you your heart rate using sensors in the handles, although it also comes with a wireless monitor that you strap around your chest (too inconvenient, but probably more accurate.)

The way that the bike uses an electromagnet to control the resistance is amazing. When you stop to take a break or answer the phone, the resistance is automatically reduced, and it ramps up when you start pedaling again. I used to own one of those old style bikes with friction resistance, and this one is 100x nicer.
