One of The best books I have ever read.,
By Derek (Tapiola, Michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Navajo Code Talkers (Hardcover)
First of all, I am an 8th grade student at Houghton Middle School. I read this for a book report, and I found this book fascinating, interesting, and exciting. It talks about from their roots and their culture, all the way to their finest hour at Iwo Jima and Mount Suribachi. I reccomend this book to anyone who is interested in World War 2 and the Navajo Code Talkers.

History Comes Alive!,
By "eeguana" (Idaho) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Navajo Code Talkers (Library Binding)
A fascinating true story about the Navajo people, World War II, and creating and breaking codes. This book is of the sort that really makes history come alive for readers. I thoroughly enjoyed it. My husband will shortly be purchasing several copies for use in his Jeopardy Reading Tournament that he holds each year for 4th and 5th graders in the school district he is a media specialist in.

After traveling to Northern Arizona last summer, I wanted to learn more about the Navajo. I found this book which tied in with my interest of WWII. It was a fast read and very informative.

This book was well written and easy to read, though I felt it left out some information. I got it to help me with research for a report and it did help me out some, but all in all was not as complete as I would have liked it to be. Still, the service provided by these Native Americans were valuable and basically under praised. I was amazed to find out some of the things that went on, how Code talking was developed and things of that nature. It was very informative and well written but not the total story.

I bought this for my 10 year old nephew who was doing a presentation on the Navajo Code Talkers. It turns out he is related to one of them, which made it even more cool. He used this book in his presentation and I am so happy I bought it for him!!!

This is a true story. I checked the book out the library and read book prior and purchased a copy for a gift, and purchased an additional copy for my own personal library. You are missing out about history, communication, and the Navajo Code Talkers if you don't read this wondeful book. Enjoy.

"Navajo Code Talkers" Disappointment Beyond Belief,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Navajo Code Talkers (Paperback)
Author Nathan Aaseng published Navaho Code Talkers. I thought he crafted the book horrifically from the start since he did nothing to pull the reader in. He just started off with too many facts. This was not a book that makes you want to stay up on school nights and read even when your parents tell you to go to bed. This book is the kind of book you may want to stop and not continue. The kind books you will be glad to finish reading. He did a great job of giving the facts but they where not organized in a way which interested you.
However I do truly under stand the code talkers where a big part in the war, but really he should have spoken about the war more than just the code talkers. After reading other books on the code talkers he really left out a lot of details that he should have included. It may just be me but I will never read one of Nathan Aaseng's books again. I recommend this book for any one who only wants to learn about the Code Talkers but if you want the full package on the war pick another book.

the best auction book ever,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Navajo Code Talkers (Paperback)
Summary: Navajo code talkers, is about marines using Navajo language to get messages to the frontline to where ever. The commanders where so impressed with the Navajo's speed of translation and accuracy they went to reservations to get any Navajo volunteer who wanted to join. It is also about the Navajo trusting the United States after the long walk. This is related to World War 2 because it is in the same time as Pearl Harbor was bombed. I liked the book because of the movie I watched about code talkers. The edgy title got me interested to. I also like to study World War 2.
