Editorial Reviews

Review

Finally an experienced lawyer who has also worked the streets as a private detective gives us a book combining street smarts with legal authority. Ron Hankin's Navigating the Legal Minefield is a must read guide with quick answers for anyone in the profession, whether private detective, security officer, or police officer. I highly recommend it and plan on using it for my college level students in police science and members of my police department.
--Larry W. Mason, Command Officer, Ill. State Police (ret.)

Ron Hankin's book provides a brilliant account of the law that touches on investigative work...a must read for private detectives, private police or anyone interested in private investigations. Hankin simplifies complex legal topics in a clear and accessible fashion without sacrificing authority or expertise. I absolutely love this book and give it the highest recommendation!
--Matthew J. Medina, Assistant States Attorney, Cook County, Il. Author of Real World Search & Seizure

This book is a teacher s dream! As a long-time criminal law and security instructor, I highly recommend this book for the private detective or security professional, whether new or seasoned...a must-have book in the classroom or on the streets.

5.0 out of 5 stars Invaluable Reference, November 24, 2008
This review is from: Navigating The Legal Minefield of Private Investigations (Paperback)
This reference for private detectives and security personnel is also a great guide for lawyers who might be called upon to advise on the legal pitfalls of the investigative field. A myriad of subjects are covered, including search and seizure, legal use of trackers, surveillance issues, stalking, trespassing, eavesdropping and a host of other subjects. I recommend the book to anyone who has an interest in the investigative field, whether he or she be student or an experienced detective.

This review is from: Navigating The Legal Minefield of Private Investigations (Paperback)
This book is a tremendous resource to any PI or Security Officer! I wish I had something like this 30 years ago when I started in the business. It's like having a lawyer in your pocket! I highly recommend this book to any Investigator or Guard. Anyone working without this great resource is working at a tremendous handicap.

This review is from: Navigating The Legal Minefield of Private Investigations (Paperback)
This book is a great legal reference book and a must for any private detective. I would reccommend that any attorney, corporation or person hiring a private detective insist that the detective read this book to protect themselves and the detective from breaking the law.
